FREE FAMILY EVENTS
Here are 10 FREE events that are happening in the month of June that you won’t want to miss:
Join the fun at the Do-Dah parade on June 6 starting at 11:00 am in downtown Kalamazoo. We love the wackiness of this parade! Plus, it’s a great way to kick-off summer.
2. KIA Art Fair
Check out the biggest Art Fair of the year in Kalamazoo on Friday, June 5 from 3:00 pm-8:00 pm and Saturday, 9:00 am-5:00 pm. Saturday features many fun art activities for the kids from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm in Bronson Park. Look for a scavenger hunt with the Art Detectives, photo opps with the Growlers & K-Wings mascots, jewelry making with Noodles & Company, and (for a nominal cost): T-shirt painting, spin art, and face tattoos. PLUS ceramics and 3-D printing demos and summer camps & classes info by the Kirk Newman Art School.
Admission is free Thursday – Saturday, June 4-6 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, after 4:00 admission is $10. See Kalamazoo Greek Fest website for more pricing info. A great listing of family fun events on Saturday, June 6 from noon to 4 p.m. for Family Fun day in the Wonders of Hercules Tent.
Featuring the “World’s Longest Breakfast Table”, Saturday, June 13 where breakfast will be served 8:00 am– 10:00 am. Stay around for the rest of the festival too with vendors, entertatinment, and activities for the children until 2:00 pm!
Join the fun at the KPL’s Central location on June 6 from 11:00 am -2:00 pm. Enjoy inflatables, games, special guests, and sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge!
Visit the Kalamazoo Valley Museum on June 6 after the Do-Dah Parade from 12:00 pm to 4:00 for hands-on activities, guest lectures, animation events and much more. Make sure that you check out all of the great activities that are planned!
Get your FREE ticket for this fun family concert at the Kalamazoo Public Library on June 11 for either a 6:00 pm or 7:00 pm concert. New York Times bestselling author of the first four Pete the Cat books, “Mr. Eric” Litwin will be visiting Kalamazoo for a family show! Eric will share a Pete the Cat story, a Nut Family story and a new story in the works! Children and parents participate from start to finish.
Check out the Old Car Show on the Downtown streets of the Village of Vicksburg on Friday & Saturday, June 12 & 13. Some of the festivities include: special guest cars, entertainment people choice car judging, Clark Park Arts and Craft Show, Antique Gas and Steam Engine Show, “Tin Can Tourists” antique camper and trailer display and special events at the Historic Village park.
Celebrate the kick-off of summer at the Portage District Library on June 13. There will be face painting, crafts, bubble fun (10:00-11:30 am), an egg drop competition (11:00 am-12:30 pm), scavenger hunts and more! Plus, sign up the kiddos for their summer reading program.
Head over to South Haven for a fun weekend at Harbor Festival June 18-21. A celebration of Southwestern Michigan’s unique maritime history with live music all weekend plus….Dragon Boat Racing, craft and food fair, pancake breakfast, kids activities, and more.
Head over to Mayors’ Riverfront Park on June 25 from 1:00 pm -7:00 pm for a FREE community event. Festivities include: 1K Fun Run, Youth Games, Mini-Farmers’ Market, Family Classes, Community Resources, Giveaways, and more!
