4th of July Parades, Fireworks, and Fun!

The Fourth of July will be here soon and it is not too early to start planning for some Independence Day fun with family and friends! Many Southwest Michigan communities have parades, fireworks or other events and activities planned, so there is sure to be a way to celebrate that everyone will enjoy!

4TH OF JULY PARADES

Allegan

Date: 7/3/17

Time: 5:00 p.m.

This parade travels through downtown Allegan on Locust St., Trowbridge St., Walnut St., and Hubbard St. Following the parade there will be music, food, and activities for kids before the fireworks display at dusk!

Bangor

Date: 7/4/17

Time: 10:00 a.m.

The parade will begin at the American Legion and moves from east to west on M-43.

Colon

Date: 7/4/17

Time: 11:00 a.m.

This parade starts at the corner of Dallas St. and State St. and travels through town.

 

Constantine

Date: 7/4/17

Time: 11:00 a.m.

The parade begins on E. 2nd Street and travels south.

 

Decatur

Date: 7/4/17

Time: 11:00 a.m.

This parade starts at the corner of Mills St. and W. Delaware St. and ends at the VFW on Phelps St. After the parade there will be activities at the VFW for kids and adults.

 

Dorr

Date: 7/4/17

Time: 10:30 a.m.

View the parade on 18th Street and 142nd Ave., continuing past the parks. After the parade visit Dorr’s South Park for carnival rides, food vendors, and more! Fireworks conclude the day’s events!

Richland

Date: 7/4/17

Time: 11:00 a.m.

This parade starts downtown on M-89 near Gull Lake Middle School and concludes at Gracespring Bible Church on Gull Road. Head over to the park afterwards for the Gull Lake Area Lions Club Chicken BBQ Fundraiser!

 

Saugatuck

Date: 7/4/17

Time: 1:00 p.m.

This parade begins at Saugatuck High School and travels on Culver St. and Butler St.

 

Schoolcraft

Date: 7/4/17

Time: 11:00 a.m.

This parade starts on Eliza at the railroad tracks and ends at the corner of Clay and 14th. After the parade stay for a fun-filled day of activities for all ages and a fireworks display at dusk.

 

South Haven

Date: 7/4/17

Time: 11:00 a.m.

This parade travels through downtown South Haven.

4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS

 

Allegan

Date: 7/3/17

Time: 10:15 p.m.

Location: On the riverfront.

Before the fireworks, check out the 4th of July parade, music, food, and other activities!

 

Bangor

Date: 7/4/17

Time: Around 10:15 p.m.

Location: Bangor High School

 

Battle Creek Field of Flight Air Show & Balloon Festival Fireworks

Date: 7/1/17 and 7/4/17 (Rain date for 7/1 fireworks will be 7/2. There will be no rain date for the 7/4 fireworks.)

Time: Dusk

Location:  W.K. Kellogg Airport 15551 S Airport Rd, Battle Creek, MI 49015

Once at the airport enter the festival grounds for the best experience, and make it an all day celebration by checking out the many other events available!

 

Colon

Date: 7/4/17

Time: Dusk

Location: Colon Elementary School

 

Constantine

Date: 7/4/17

Time: Dusk

Location: By the Little League Fields

 

Decatur

Date: 7/4/17

Location: Over Lake of the Woods

Decatur also has a parade earlier in the day and activities for all ages at the VFW after the parade.

Location: North Park

Visit Dorr’s South Park prior to fireworks for carnival rides, food vendors and more!

 

Gun Lake

Date: 7/1/17 (Rain date is 7/2/17)

Time: Approximately 10:20 p.m.

Location: Over Gun Lake

 

Kalamazoo Growlers

Date: 7/1/17 and 7/4/17

Time: The baseball games begin at 7:05 p.m., fireworks follow the game.

Red, White & Boom Night of Doom – Family Entertainment with Stunts, Monster Trucks & Bus Races

Mini Enduro & more plus HUGE fireworks display!

Date: 7/1/17

Time: Fireworks are at dusk. Gates open at 7:30 p.m., racing starts at 7:30 p.m.

Location: Kalamazoo Speedway 7656 Ravine Rd., Kalamazoo, MI

Admission: Adult $20; Teens (13-15) $10; Kids (6-12) $5; Kids 5 & Under FREE!

 

Plainwell

Date: 7/4/17

Time: Dusk

Location: Plainwell Municipal Airport 616 N 10th St, Plainwell

 

Portage

Date: 7/3/17 (rain date 7/4/17)

Time: Gates open at 6:00 p.m., fireworks begin at dusk.

Location: McCamley Field 8135 S Westnedge Ave, Portage, MI

This event is sponsored by the Portage Rotary Club. Admission is free but donations are accepted and will go toward Portage Rotary Charities.

 

Saugatuck

Date: 7/4/17

Time: Dusk

Location: Over Lake Kalamazoo, Saugatuck

 

Schoolcraft

Date: 7/4/17

Time: Dusk

Location: Fireworks are set off behind Schoolcraft High School 551 East Lyons Street Schoolcraft, MI 49087

Schoolcraft also offers a parade and a fun-filled day of activities for all ages!

 

South Haven Light Up the Lake Fireworks

Date: 7/3/17

Time: 10:30 p.m.

Location: On the Lakefront.

MORE 4TH OF JULY FUN

Historic Charlton Park

35th Annual 4th of July and Veterans Bar-B-Que is 7/4/17 from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

This is a free event! All are invited to bring a homemade pie to be judged by a panel of experts. Pies will be auctioned off to help keep this event free to the public!

A Flag Raising Ceremony and remembrance will be before the Bar-B-Que.

12:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.: Complete Pork and Chicken Bar-B-Que Buffet, the cost for the fundraising Bar-B-Que is TBD.

1 p.m.: Games will begin on the Village Green.

 

Dorr Annual 4th of July Festival

7/2/17 – 7/4/17 – 3 days of family-oriented fun!

There will be carnival rides and food vendors all three days, plus many other fun things to do! See event website for a complete listing of all that will be available.

    Don’t forget Decatur! One of the best parades in Southwest Michigan. Being a small town 30 minutes west of KZoo, I wouldn’t have even mentioned it but figured since you included Saugatuck, geographical closeness might be of less relevance for this list:)
