Do you have a child that loves pirates and likes to have an adventure? If the answer is yes, then the Pirate Chase Adventure Cruise in South Haven may be the thing for you.
I took my son who is almost six on the Pirate Chaser Adventure Cruise last week and we had a fun adventure. We’d seen the tall ship many times while spending a day at the beach in South Haven, but had never had the opportunity to take the cruise. Always looking for an adventure, we thought we’d try the Pirate Chaser Adventure Cruise and share our findings with our readers at KZOOkids.com.
Learning Opportunities About Michigan Maritime
Our day started with a tour of the various buildings and exhibits as part of the Michigan Maritime Museum. I loved learning about the maritime history of the Great Lakes and found many of the exhibits interesting. With five separate buildings offering a variety of engaging opportunities for the Museum visitor, there is plenty to see and learn.
The Adventure Begins
After we toured the museum, we headed to meet at the flagpole where our adventure on the high seas (aka Lake Michigan) was getting ready to begin.
Once we were told that the pirates had taken our treasure, we joined the captain and the crew on board to help recapture the stolen treasure. My little guy enjoyed playing the role of a pirate chaser while I enjoyed the beautiful Friends of Goodwill ship and cruising through the harbor.
Once we got through the harbor (and waved to all of our friends on land along the way), we were fast approached by the nasty band of pirates that had stolen our pirate booty.
After our confrontation with the pirates which included real canon fire, they had surrendered and returned our treasure to us. Members of our fearless crew, headed out to retrieve our stolen treasure.
With the treasure back on board, the crew distributed the treasure to the rest of the crew including all of the kid pirates.
Then we were given a brief tour below deck and were able to hear a little more about the history of the Friends of Goodwill and even try out the sleeping quarters.
