If you aren’t heading towards warmer climates this Spring Break, don’t worry, there are plenty of Spring Break Camps to keep your children active and engaged during their time off. We have compiled a list of opportunities in the area, ranging from full-week camps, single days or half-days.

Kalamazoo Institute of Arts

The KIA is the place for creative fun with half- and full-day Spring Break Art Camp for your kids in grades K-5. They will explore the museum’s galleries for inspiration and head into the studios to create their own works of art in a variety of mediums. Kalamazoo Civic Theatre

Has your child shown interest in acting or singing? Sign them up for the week-long Spring Break Camp at the Kalamazoo Civic Theater. At the conclusion of the camp, each group puts on a musical performance. Children in grades kindergarten through ninth can sign up to be a part of the unique experience. Classes are held every day during the week of spring break, April 4th through April 8th, with the final performances being held at 5:30 pm on that Friday. Musicals will be “Let’s Jam” for grades K-3 and “Broadway Beat” for grades 4-9. Extended care options are available.

For the child who enjoys exploring and learning about nature, the Kalamazoo Nature Center is offering a Spring Break Camp for children ages four through fifth grade. You can register for individual days or the entire week. Half-day options are available for ages 4-5 and full-day options are available for grades 1-5. Each day includes stories, games, hikes and a different interactive topic. Topics include Feathered Friends, Turtle Time, Predator, Scaly and Slimy, and Aquatic Adventures, among others.

The Kalamazoo Parks and Recreation Department is offering a Spring Break Camp for four days beginning Monday, April 4th. Children age five to 14 can sign up for fun activities, games and field trips. Field trips include The Greater Kalamazoo World of Gymnastics, KVCC Museum, Impression 5 Science Center, bowling, swimming and even a trip to the South Bend Chocolate Company! Registration deadline is March 28th.

Mini Sports Camps

What better way to burn off that winter cabin fever than with a Mini-Sports Camp? The Maple and Portage Branch Centers are offering Spring Break Mini-Sports Camps for boys and girls ages five to 12. The sessions will run from 8:00 am to Noon. Campers will play a variety of sports and games every day, including basketball, baseball, soccer, flag football, floor hockey and much, much more.  Please bring a swimsuit, towel and snack every day. Campers will have the opportunity to swim each day at camp.

If your child is interested in science, math, and technology, check out the Air Zoo Spring Break Day Camps. The Air Zoo is offering three separate days of camps for kids Pre-K through fifth grade. Topics include Ocean Explorers, Fantastic Flying, Astronauts in Training, Candy Chemistry and Rockets and Rollercoasters. Preschool to Kindergarten age children are allowed to bring one adult with them. After-camp child care is available. Hurry, only a few spots left!
