Movies in the Park – The Lego Movie

Friday, August 1 activities start at 7:30 pm and movie starts at sunset at the Riverview Launch location.

  • Grab a chair or blanket and join us under the stars for our “Movies in the Park” series, it’s FREE! Family-friendly activities and games will begin around 7:30 p.m. thanks to our sponsor, Metro Transit, with the featured movie beginning at sunset. Popcorn and snacks will be available for purchase. Reptile Weekend at Binder Park Zoo

Saturday, August 2 from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and Sunday, August 3 from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm at the Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek. 

  • Visit Binder Park Zoo for Reptile Weekend and learn about the truths and misconceptions.This year’s event will feature several large species such as reticulated pythons, alligator snapping turtles, and hands-on encounters with Al, the Zoo’s giant Aldabra tortoise. One of Michigan’s largest reptile events, Reptile Weekend encompasses a full weekend of fun, entertainment, and hands on encounters with over 100 different reptiles and amphibians from around the world. This fascinating event is geared toward the entire family and is included in the day’s admission.

First Saturday at KPL

Saturday, August 2 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm at the Kalamazoo Public Library, Central location. 

  • Take your family to the library the first Saturday of every month! Enjoy fun, free activities with your family. Join us for flower and garden activities as part of the Kalamazoo in Bloom weekend festivities.

Discovering Dinosaurs

Saturday, August 2 from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm at the Leila Arboretum in Battle Creek.

  • Join us in the Children’s Garden to take a closer look at fossils of dinosaurs big and small. See if you have what it takes to discover dinosaurs! Children’s Garden is open Weekdays and Saturdays throughout the season!

 

Other Fun Ideas

Check out some of the other fun stuff in our area this weekend. There is the US Coast Guard Festival in Grand Haven, the Red Barn Spectacular at the Gilmore Car Museum, the Public Tour: Tiffany Jewels at the KIA or the Art Hop in Kalamazoo.
