Crescendo Academy of Music

For nearly 30 years, the Crescendo Academy of Music has been providing high quality music lessons to children, adults, and families in the Kalamazoo area. Year round lessons are available in increments of 15 to 60 minutes, depending on the age and skill level of the musician. Programs available for infants/toddlers through adults, including programs for students with special needs and ensembles for all ages.

Broughton Music & Art Center

The Broughton Music & Art Center is a full service experience for young musicians and families. Offering instrument rental as well as repair services, students can rent and take lessons on a wide range of instruments including string, brass, woodwind, voice, piano and percussion. Classes in music theory and composition are also available. Most lessons are $21 per half hour. Group lessons are also available.

The Suzuki Academy

The Suzuki Academy offers weekly private and group lessons in violin/viola, piano, cello and guitar, with the next semester beginning February 6th, 2017. Private lessons vary from 30 to 60 minutes. Students at the Suzuki Academy follow a curriculum developed by Shinichi Suzuki, which focused on small, success-oriented steps.

Marshall Music Co.

Marshall’s School of Music opened in Michigan in 1948 and offers music lessons in brass, woodwind, string, percussion, piano, voice and guitar. From beginners to advanced learners, children to retired adults, all are welcome and challenged at Marshall Music Co. Instruments are also available for rental, purchase and repair services are offered.

Kalamazoo Academy of Rock

If your young musician is looking for something a little out of the ordinary, Kalamazoo Academy of Rock might be the right fit. Musicians ages 8-18 can experience a rock band program. The summer and fall programs run over 10 week periods and the winter/spring session is a 16 week period. Students participate in private lessons as well as group band rehearsals. Family Center for the Arts

The Family Center for the Arts offers many classes for preschoolers and toddlers, but also offers private music lessons for children beginning at age 6 as well as adults. Piano, voice, and guitar lessons are available and rates are $20 per half hour or $30 for an hour-long lesson.

The Gilmore Education Program

The Gilmore Education Program offers several types of private piano lessons to students of all ages and backgrounds. Programs include Piano Labs for students during the school day, Gilmore Piano Camp at Sherman Lake YMCA, and KeysFest, which features professional pianists and educators and gives students the chance to perform in a master class. Also available is a new piano lab at the Maple Street YMCA, offering elementary, middle school, and adult group piano lessons.
