Hosting events – birthday, graduation, reunion, baby shower, etc.- outside the home can be a blast. After all, you don’t need to figure out how to get the chocolate stain out of your favorite chair after the party. However, finding the right venue can be tricky.

Conveniently located near downtown Kalamazoo attractions and shops, The Station offers a choice of two studios for rent for one hour or more. Hourly rates start at $35 per hour for an empty studio. Studios can be rented for an hour or more and can be reserved in advance. A variety of events can be hosted at The Station including small weddings, kid’s birthday parties, family reunions, parent-child playdate space and more. Food and drink are permitted in the rented room (or hire the caterer of your choice). The Station also has tables and chairs on site available to rent.

The state-of-the-art program and training center near downtown Kalamazoo has space available for meetings, weddings, corporate retreats, parties, and more. The Center has a kitchen, a meeting room that holds 200 people, a lobby gathering space, and a café on five acres of land. The various rooms are rented on an hourly basis. The Museum offers a welcoming, fun environment for groups or individuals desiring a space for receptions, meetings, and parties. Three floors of interactive science, history, and temporary exhibitions offer unique settings for any occasion.

Portage Community Center has three rooms available for rent. Rooms are available for business meetings, individual parties/gatherings and to non-profit groups. Rooms can accommodate a group size from 10-90. The cost is based on a two-hour rental (extra for each additional hour). Food and drink are permitted in the rented room. Due to holiday programs, PCC does not accept rentals during the months of November and December.

The Oshtemo Community Center was originally a fire station. It was renovated into two separate rooms and is available for rent to Oshtemo Township residents. The rooms have a capacity of 40 or 60 people and include a small refrigerator, sink, microwave, tables and chairs. A shared foyer and restrooms are located between the two rooms. These beautifully renovated rooms are ideal for family get-togethers, baby showers, wedding showers and many other occasions. They are available any time between 8:00 am and midnight.

The Grange Hall is a charming historic building with ties to Oshtemo’s agricultural heritage. With hardwood floors and a raised stage area, the air-conditioned hall is a popular destination for dances and jam sessions. It is also a wonderful venue for family reunions, holidays, and wedding receptions. The upper level has a capacity of 150 people. The lower level has a capacity of 50 people and features a full kitchen, tables, chairs and restrooms. The building is available for rent to Oshtemo Township residents any time between 8:00 am and midnight. *Note: The Grange Hall will undergo renovation June-August 2017.
The YMCA of Greater Kalamazoo rents its facilities at both the Maple and Portage branch on a request basis as a member benefit. Prices range from $55-75 for the first hour and an additional cost each hour thereafter. Visit the website for additional information.

The Paw Paw District Library offers a community room for for public not-for-profit use at no charge. The room has a maximum capacity of 210 persons and includes its own restroom (South side) and access to the kitchen (North Side). An established hourly rental fee will be charged to for-profit users and also for social events such as parties, baby showers, and receptions. Fees will be applied to out-of-district users. Food and beverage are allowed (deposit required) in the room.

Spruce Lodge is nestled on the shores of Wintergreen Lake at the Kellogg Bird Sanctuary and provides a picturesque location for any event – birthday, bridal shower, baby shower, family reunion or any meeting. Food and beverages are permitted. Also, Spruce Lodge has a full kitchen, fireplace and holds up to 50 people.

For indoor rental, the Sun Room & Kitchen is perfectly set for a shower or other family gathering. The room capacity is 60. Seasonally, The Richland Area Community Center also offers the Gazebo and outdoor space to rent. Rental prices are by the hour.

Several outdoor options include:
- Osthemo Township Park Pavilion located at 7275 West Main holds 12 picnic tables. It can be rented for a full day (11 am – 8 pm) or a half day (11 am to 3 pm, or 4 pm to 8 pm). No rentals available on holidays.
- Flesher Field Pavilion is located at 3664 South 9th This picnic rental location holds 9 picnic tables.
- Gazebo rental at Flesher Field. The new gazebo and garden area can be rented for outdoor weddings, concerts and other special events.
Kalamazoo County Parks (Cold Brook, Markin Glen, Prairie View, Scotts Mill & River Oaks) all offer the perfect location for a family gathering, company picnic, school outing, or group picnic. Picnic shelters feature grills, electricity, water and clean modern restrooms at or near the shelters. *Note: Park entrance fees are NOT included with the shelter rentals. The Tree Top room provides a great indoor spot for a small, informal gathering of up to 30 people. Outdoors, the Picnic Area, located at the edge of the Arboretum, is a quiet get-away spot surrounded by the green of nature. The Joyce I Neubauer Farmers Market Pavilion was constructed in 2009 and is home to the Texas Township Farmers Market during the summer months. It is located next to the Township Hall and is available to rent for community activities, birthday parties, celebrations, and other events during times of non-use. Historic Charlton Park offers a variety of rental venues, both indoor and outdoor. Seasonally they offer a Mini-Shelter option that rents from April through October. The facility holds 50 people seated at picnic tables and is available daily for a $50 rental fee. As an indoor venue, Historic Charlton Park rents the Church Basement Sunday – Friday from mid-April until mid-October. The church features a full kitchen and holds 60 people maximum. Contact the Park office or visit the website to fill out the online Reservation Request Form.
