“What’s for dinner Mom/Dad?” With the kids back in school, weekday evenings can be a flurry of athletic practices and homework, just to name a few! No time to cook? No problem. Check out these ten spots in the Kalamazoo area offering quick pick-up/delivery meals. Thanks to our readers for some of the suggestions!
QUICK PICK UP MEALS
The Ample Pantry | 4325 West Michigan Ave., Kalamazoo | (269) 365-8300
The Ample Pantry has been delivering homemade meals in the Kalamazoo area for over 30 years! They are open Monday– Saturday. Dinner orders must be placed by 3:30 p.m. for same-day delivery, or by 5:30 p.m. for pick-up, there is no minimum order. A nominal delivery charge is applied. Make sure to check out the website for their delivery area. The menu boasts cashew chicken, baked lasagna, pot roast to name a few. Their hot chicken salad is available every night.
You can sign-up for their free VIP Ample Pantry Club and learn about the current month’s menu along with other specials they offer. The Ample Pantry does not currently accept online phone orders.
Fieldstone Grill | 3940 West Centre Ave., Portage | (269) 321-8480
Fieldstone Grill, a Millennium Restaurant, offers a family-style meal for up to four people for pick-up. The meals are available daily after 4 p.m. and you can call ahead (allow 30 minutes) so it will be ready to go. Their meal options are a rotisserie chicken dinner, walleye dinner, pot roast dinner, or mac-n-cheese. All meals come with green beans, mashed potatoes, rolls and cookies. Meals start at $24.
Arcadia Brewing Company | 701 E. Michigan Ave., Kalamazoo | | (269) 276-0458
Arcadia Brewing Company specializes in British-style ales, but they also have a full-service take-out deli counter situated in the back area of the restaurant. A chalkboard on display tells what is on the menu for the day – such items as a pulled pork sandwich, smoked chicken or caramelized bacon mac-n-cheese are some favorites. Arcadia Brewing sources from local farms and bakeries.
People’s Food Co-op of Kalamazoo | 507 Harrison Street, Kalamazoo | (269) 342-5686
Check out the People’s Food Co-op deli for some great ‘take-it-home’ options. They offer sandwiches made daily, fresh dips and salads, burritos, casseroles, soups and more. The website posts the current weekly offerings of items made daily. Items are noted that are vegetarian, vegan and wheat free.
Barrett’s Smoke House | 9942 Oakland Ave., Portage | (269) 323-3700
Barrett’s Smoke House offers a number of sandwiches – pulled pork, beef brisket, smoked chicken – that comes with 2 side choices such as their homemade pea & bacon salad. They also offer dinner meals and hot open-faced meals. Smokin’ meat can be ordered by the pound. Barrett’s has opened a second location – 4536 Stadium Dr., Kalamazoo. Make sure to check out a variety of their Michigan-made products when in the store.

Earth Fare offers a robust deli area with a wide selection of food and an impressive salad bar. They have “Take out Tuesday”- BBQ chicken and two seasonal sides every Tuesday from 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday their “Game Day deal” is a take-n-bake 16” pizza for $7.00! Additionally, Kids meals are $3 and include grapes and carrots.

GT Pie Company offers so much more than pie! They have a potpie’s, quiche, sandwiches, wraps and a variety of salads that can be ordered for pick-up. They also offer seasonal items and gluten-free options. New this fall is the beef pasty pie, a Michigan favorite!
Food Dance | 401 East Michigan Avenue, Kalamazoo | 269-382-1888
Not only does Food Dance offer catering and deliveries ($50 minimum order), they also offer pick-up. Come in and browse the market or order ahead directly from the menu. Food Dance also has a Grab-n-Go in their cooler, stocked daily with seasonal salads, soups, mac & cheese, burritos, quiche and more! Check out a variety of pantry items – including house-made sausages and cheeses. Finish off with their house specialty dessert – the Cat’s Meow, a baked chocolate mousse.

A Pizza Yen offers a variety of subs/sandwiches as well as French bread pizza, salads and assorted soups. Download and submit their order form via fax. Allow a minimum of 15 minutes for the order to be prepared. Note the hours of business are Wednesday 4 pm – 8 pm and Thursday and Friday from 11 am – 2 pm.
