The University Theatre Presents Charlotte’s Web

  • Adapted by Joseph Robinette
  • Based on the book by E.B. White
  • Directed by Lofton Durham

Relive your favorite childhood story about a “terrific” pig and a loyal spider. CHARLOTTE’S WEB is playing in the Shaw Theatre March 20 through 29, 2015.

Witness two unlikely comrades as they embark on a heartwarming adventure to discover what it means to be a true friend. Bring the whole family to this beloved story and experience together this simple and touching tale where one is taught that “A good life is much more important than having a long life.” Children and adults will delight in the lovable characters and unexpected charm of this production!

“As a piece of work it is just about perfect, and just about magical in the way it is done.” ~ The New York Times

Flying Effects

The Department of Theatre is working with rigging professionals from Hall Associates Flying Effects to actually fly Charlotte (the spider) in performance. Bringing these guests to campus for this type of work brings a level of sophistication and excitement to this family classic while providing an opportunity to teach WMU students  about safely rigging people for flight in the theatre.

Crafts and Face Painting

Families are invited to join us for free crafts and face painting one hour prior to the performance! Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to showtime to participate.

Show Information

Performances of CHARLOTTE’S WEB will be held March 20 and 27 at 7:30 p.m., March 21 and 28 at 1:00 pm, March 28 at 4:00 pm and March 29 at 2:00 pm in the Shaw Theatre located inside of the Gilmore Theatre Complex at Western Michigan University. Parking is free.

Charlotte’s Web (or the show) is sponsored by Consumers Credit Union and is produced in collaboration with Education for the Arts.
