Yes, Christmas break is right around the corner. If you’re not heading out of town here are some great options for Christmas break fun with your kids in and around Kalamazoo.

  1. Take advantage of the Kalamazoo Valley Museum Holiday Happenings -Make a Joyful Noise or the Winter Discovery Program at the KNC.
  2. Ice Skating at Millennium Park, Wings Stadium, or at Lawson Ice Areana at WMU.
  3. Go sledding, tubing, or ice skating at Echo Valley.
  4. Visit to Reindeer Ranch to see the reindeer in their natural element.
  5. Work off excess energy at Bounceland or Jungle Joe’s.
  6. Go bowling at Airway Lanes.
  7. Go skiing or snowboarding (or learn how to) at Timber Ridge  or Bittersweet.
  8. Take in a hockey game at the KWings Stadium.
  9. Participate in one of the Winter Camps at the Kalamazoo Nature Center or at Sherman Lake YMCA.
  10. Make your own snow day movie party.
  11. Attend one of the open gyms at Kids’ Gym in Portage.
  12. Warm up and see a movie at Kalamazoo 10, the Alamo Drafthouse or Crossroads movie theaters.  Alamo Draft House offers Baby Days on Tuesdays for shows that start before 2 pm.
  13. Ride some of the rides at the Air Zoo and explore all of the great airplanes and spacecraft there.
  14. Attend one of the holiday themed storytime events at the Kalamazoo library or Portage library.
  15. Make a craft at Michael’s and join in on the kid’s day fun.
  16. Visit Chuck-E-Cheese or Putter’s Family Fun Center to let the kiddos play some games.
  17. Head out to your favorite park to do some sledding.  We like Oakland Drive Park in Portage or Kindleburger Park in Parchment.
  18. Enjoy a cozy trip to the Crossroads Mall and let the kiddos play in the play area or get pictures taken with Santa.
  19. Get into the New Year’s spirit with the New Year’s Fest in Downtown Kalamazoo.
  20. Go open swim at the WMU swimming pool.
  21. Make a road trip to one of the children’s museums, Grand Rapids Children’s Museum in Grand Rapids, Curious Kids in St. Joseph, or Kid’s ‘N’ Stuff in Albion.
  22. Try climb at Climb Kalamazoo for a fun time of rock climbing.
  23. Venture out to Grand Rapids to Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park and enjoy the Christmas and Holiday Traditions Around The World.
  24. Create a work of art at the Art Bayou.
  25. Go rollerskating at Rollerworld.
  26. Take the Holly Jolly Trolly around Downtown Kalamazoo.
  27. Volunteer with your kids. Volunteer Kalamazoo has some great ideas for volunteering with your kids this holiday season.
  28. Enjoy the zoo in the winter for the Holiday Nights at the Binder Park Zoo.
  29. Experience the Challenger Experience or a show in the Planetarium at the Kalamazoo Valley Museum.
  30. Play at the Kids Play ETC and let the kiddos run around or join them on Dec. 24 for their Christmas Craft Day.
