Ballet Kalamazoo’s The Dancer Collective invites you to come meet Ella, a young girl with big dreams. Join us to discover a wondrous world where dreams can come true.

Our story begins as Ella dances in front of her mirror in a ballet only she can see. She longs for a future filled with dance, beauty and wonder, but Ella’s life is not easy. Each day, Ella is tormented by a group of girls as she walks to school. The girls pull on her clothes and make fun of her dancing to imaginary music.

One day Ella’s mom gives Ella the dress of her dreams; a dress her mom worked long hours to buy. Ella is so excited to wear her new dress to school! Unfortunately, Ella encounters the mean girls, and her new dress ends up in tatters.

Heartbroken and afraid, Ella runs into a seemingly normal shop to hide. The shop is completely empty except for a mirror. As she shakily looks around, Ella catches a glimpse of the silhouette of a beautiful Music Box Ballerina. How odd! A Music Box Ballerina isn’t real.

Or is she?

But wait! Ella again sees a glimmer in the mirror and is stunned when the Music Box Ballerina reaches out her hand to pull Ella into a wondrous world where anything is possible.

Share Ella’s journey between her two worlds. Join us to discover where Ella’s journey will take her. Will she stay in the Music Box Ballerina’s world of new friends, ballet and dreams come true? Or will Ella return to her ordinary life?

What would you do?
