Do your kids love staying in hotels? Or are you looking for a quick getaway from Kalamazoo, but don’t want to drive more than a two hours from Kalamazoo? We’ve got some ideas for you.

We’ve asked our readers and added some of our own ideas. These are places that we’ve stayed at as a family. Check out these family-friendly hotels less than two hours from Kalamazoo.

Time your stay with one of the character breakfasts at Burdick’s for Breakfast. There are many themes your kiddos are sure to love such as Princess or Superhero Breakfasts.

GRAND RAPIDS AREA

What we like:

  • Great hotel located centrally in downtown Grand Rapids. Within walking distance to many area venues and restaurants. Plus, you don’t even have to go outside. You can take the skywalk and stay warm. Nice pool area. Note: breakfast is not included.

  • Nearby attractions include the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum, Grand Rapids Public Museum, outdoor ice skating at Rosa Parks Circle, and VanAndel Arena.

 

JW Marriott in Downtown Grand Rapids

What we like:

  • Great hotel located centrally in downtown Grand Rapids. Within walking distance to many area venues and restaurants. Plus, you don’t even have to go outside. This hotel is on the fancier side and has a great upscale feel and super service. Note: breakfast is not included, but it’s a great splurge if you want an awesome breakfast.

Nearby attractions: 

  • Nearby attractions include Grand Rapids Children’s Museum, Grand Rapids Public Museum, outdoor ice skating at Rosa Parks Circle, and VanAndel Arena (Disney on Ice coming in February 2018 or Monster Jam in March 2018).

  • Nice pool (but no whirlpool). The hotel has a good suite layout which makes it family-friendly and breakfast is included.

What we like:

  • All hotels are located downtown Holland with shops and restaurants within walking distance.

Nearby attractions include:

  • Nearby attractions include the Holland Aquatic Center, Windmill Island, the Critter Barn, and Craig’s Cruisers.

DETROIT AREA

  • About a 5-minute drive from the Great Lakes Crossing Mall, indoor pool, and daily breakfast included in stay. We love the suite layout which is perfect for families.

  • Nearby attractions include LEGOLAND Discovery Center and Michigan and SeaLife Aquarium at the Great Lakes Crossing Mall. Plus, grab lunch at the Rainforest Cafe’ which the kiddos will love.

  • Family-friendly pool with great splash pad area for younger kids, close to the mall and restaurants.

  • Newly remodeled with a nice pool area. Our family enjoys dining at Weber’s for lunch or dinner.

Nearby attractions:

  • Nearby attractions include the U of M Museum of Natural History and the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum. Tons of shopping and restaurants in downtown Ann Arbor makes this a fun college town to visit.

 

LANSING AREA
