The temperatures are dropping and we are definitely feeling the chill of a cold Michigan winter. It’s time to lace up your skates and glide across the ice. Grab your gloves and welcome the winter season with frozen fun in Kalamazoo and Portage! Many of these skate times can be found on our Events Calendar.

The Ice Rink at Millennium Park

Located at 280 Romence Road, Portage, MI. This outdoor rink which is operated by the Portage Recreation Department is one of our favorite places to go ice skating.  It is conveniently located in Portage and offers the whole family a fun place to skate outdoors. Monday – Wednesday: Closed

Thursday: 3 to 9 p.m.
Friday: 3 to 10 p.m.

December 24, 31, January 1: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Christmas Day: Closed

Winter School Holidays: Friday, January 24 and Friday, February 28, 2 to 10 p.m.
Resurfacing occurs from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. on weekends and daily from December 21 – January 4.

Wings Stadium or Wings West

Public Skating is available at either Wings Stadium (WS) or Wings West (WS) daily. It is a wonderful opportunity to spend time with friends or teach the little ones to skate.  Hours vary by day and by location. Wings Stadium (WS) is located at 3600 Vanrick Drive, Kalamazoo, MI and Wings West (WW) is located at 5076 Sports Dr., Kalamazoo, MI. Call (269) 345-1125 for more information.

Open Skate at the Lawson Ice Arena

Open Skate sessions are great opportunities for you to relax, exercise and socialize.  Located at 2009 Howard St, Kalamazoo. Call the 24 hour number (269) 387-3046 for updated times, dates or cancellations.

Noon Skate

Mon.–Thurs. noon–12:50 p.m. $1 admission and $1 skate rental

Weekend Skate

Sunday 2–3 p.m. $3 admission and $1 skate rental
All children aged 12 and under MUST be accompanied by an adult. Unsupervised children will not be permitted into the facilities.

Holiday Open Skate

Echo Valley in Kalamazoo

This 43,000-square-foot rink provides plenty of room. Skating is $5 (no additional charge for rentals) or you can purchase an unlimited skating pass for $25. Located at 8495 E H Ave, Kalamazoo Township.  Call (269) 349-3017 for more information.

Otsego Ice Rink

Free ice skating.  Who doesn’t love free?  You will need to bring your own skates as there are no rental skates. The rink is located on the corner of Court and Farmer streets, near the Otsego District Museum. For more information, call 269-692-3391.
