If you’ve lived in Kalamazoo for any length of time, you know that Halloween night can bring some surprises. We could have a bright sunny day or a cool fall day. We could have rain… or even snow!

So we thought we’d pull together some great indoor alternatives for indoor Halloween events and trick-or-treating options happening on the days leading up to Halloween and on the 31st.

So grab your candy buckets, leave your umbrellas and warm jackets at home and have a happy, safe (and dry!) Halloween from all of us at!

Indoor Trick or Treat in Kalamazoo

1. Trick or Treat Parade at the Parchment Community Library, Parchment 

Dress your little one in their Halloween costume and join Mrs. B at the library. Trick or treat among library staff, enjoy a Halloween story and eat a yummy treat. Registration required.

When: Tuesday & Wednesday (October 25 & 26)  at 10:15 am. Registration required.

Cost: FREE

2. Fall Spooktacular at the Schoolcraft Community Library, Schoolcraft

Celebrating autumn with an evening of comedy and trick-or-treat in the library. See Joel’s Spooktacular Comedy Show, an exciting-not-scary show that celebrates the spirit of the season and is appropriate for kids and grownups. Following the show there will be trick-or-treating, so come in costume.

When: October 26 at 6:00 pm

Cost: FREE


3. The Gilmore Spooktacular at Gilmore Car Museum, Hickory Corners

Trick-or-treating throughout the indoor galleries (for children 12 and under), a featured film in the theater, special treats & samples from local businesses, and more. Costumes are encouraged. is proud to be one of the sponsors of this event.

When: October 27 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm

Cost: Children 12 and under are FREE and adults are $5.00/person

4. Bruin Boo at Binda Performing Arts Center at KCC, Battle Creek 

Kellogg Community College invites kids and their parents to an evening of free trick-or-treating and Halloween fun. Activities include coloring, custom jack-o’-lanterns, games, prizes and refreshments.

When: October 27 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm

Cost: FREE

5. Fall Harvest Festival at St. Michael Lutheran Church, Portage 

A Christ-centered alternative to Halloween. Enjoy a fun family-friendly evening with games, prizes, donuts, dancing and a parade of candy. Children are invited to wear family-friendly costumes (non-scary).

When:  October 29 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm

Cost: FREE

6. Ross-Augusta Annual Haunted House in Ross-Augusta Fire Station, Augusta

Kid-friendly haunted house designed for kids 12 and under. Trick-or-treat through the haunted house, see fire trucks, learn about fire safety and more!

When: October 29 from 1:00  – 4:00 pm

Cost: Suggested $1 donation


7. Halloween Game/Orange Ice Game at Wings Stadium, Kalamazoo

Help your kids get a head start on their trick-or-treating at the annual Orange Ice game. The Meijer food truck will be on site for cider and donuts while Wings Event Center will have the spookiest haunted house in town, open all night for fans to enjoy for free.

When: October 30 at 3:00 pm, doors open at 2:00 pm

8. Trick or Treat at the Crossroads Mall at Crossroads Mall, Portage

Take your children to the Crossroads Mall for Trick or Treating!

When: October 30 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm

9. Trick or Treat with the Library at the Vicksburg District Library, Vicksburg

Come trick or treat at the Vicksburg District Library.

When: October 31 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm

Cost: FREE

10. Indoor Trunk or Treat at Westwood United Methodist Church, Kalamazoo

Community event with a safe and indoor trick or treating time

When: October 31 from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm
