If you need a surefire way the weather won’t spoil a planned trip, head to an indoor waterpark where the raging waves and swirling slides will guarantee hours of fun for the entire family. Not to mention – no hot sand to maneuver or sunblock to reapply! There are plenty of opportunities to replicate the warmth of summer by enjoying one of the great indoor waterparks in Michigan. Or, venture further out to enjoy one of the great waterparks within a three hour or so drive from Kalamazoo.

Surfari Joe’s Water Park & Hotel

Just an hour drive from Kalamazoo, this 18,000-square-foot water park is packed with two slides that funnel outside of the park! The hotel waterpark features an activity pool, two watersides, and a lazy river. The smaller kids will enjoy their own special play area. Grab a bite on the upper deck at the Water Hole Grill and Bar or let the kids enjoy the arcade. Day passes are available. Make sure to visit the website for special coupons.


Soaring Eagle Water Park & Hotel

Catch a big wave on the “Flow Rider” or race down one of three water slides. Kids can make a splash and shoot hoops in “Gizi’s Splash and Dunk” or wait for 317 gallons of water to fall from a huge bucket suspended at the top of “Biish Falls” – a water jungle gym designed especially for the youngest guests.

Gold Rush Waterpark

Gold Rush Waterpark features 60,000 square feet of water fun. Highlights include a cannon-bowl slide, a tunnel slide that accommodates four-person inner tubes and Michigan’s tallest indoor waterslide. Ride the lazy or enjoy the hot tub. If you plan to stay on property, make sure to grab a schedule of the complimentary resort activities. Day passes are available for $25 for adults, $20 for children 42 inches and under. Children under 3 are FREE.


Splash Universe

This waterpark hotel features waterslides, a lazy river, a floating log walk, water tree house for tykes, “Little Squirt Pool” and more. For adults, enjoy a “Hot Springs” hot tub. They also have a snack shop, gift shop, and an arcade. Day passes are available to purchase online, subject to availability.

This indoor aquatic center comes complete with therapy pool, splash zone (featuring a  spiral slide, multi-feature play structure, water cannons) and spa. Single Visit Admission is $6.50, and there is a discount for groups of four or more. The Center offers special programs/times such as Lap Swim, Family Splash Hours, Preschool Splash Hours and Preschool Therapy Hours. Check the calendar for current days and times.

Find elaborate tube slides at this Frankenmuth waterpark that is over 50,000 square feet. Little ones will love the zero-entry activity pool with water geysers and gadgets. Or enjoy the lazy river or hot tub. You can even rent a private cabana! Day passes are available online.


Great Wolf Lodge

Thrill seekers can try the three-person toboggan water slide and more, while little ones explore the four-story tree house, accessible through zero-depth entry. Relax in hot tubs and lounge in the lazy river, too. There’s plenty of other options to do while on the property. Other activities include an arcade at the Ten Paw Alley™ for bowling fun or Creation Station where kids can create their own stuffed animals.

Bavarian Inn Lodge

Here you’ll find four indoor pools, three whirlpools, a toddler play pool and two waterslides. Plus, there’s a big arcade and 18-hole mini golf course adjacent to the pool complete with a 15-foot waterfall. Allegan Aquatics Center

Holiday Inn Express – Grand Rapids South

While not a full-blown water park, the Holiday Inn South location in Grand Rapids has a great play area for smaller children. There is an indoor splash pad, wading pool area with spraying components and small toddler water slide. There is also a pool for adults and older children. Passes are included with a hotel stay, however day passes are also available Sunday through Thursday.

Romulus Athletic Center

Residents and non-residents of Romulus are invited to enjoy everything the Romulus Athletic Center has to offer! You will find a splash pool complete with splash bucket and kiddie slide, a lazy river pool with inner tubes and a two-story water slide. Adults can enjoy a lap pool and hot tub/spa. All-day pass cost is $8 for residents and $ 12 for non-residents.

Summit Aquatic Center

Located in Canton, the Summit Aquatic Center features a lazy river, 30 inch water slide, lap pool with water slide, and even a steam room for adults. Day passes range from $5 to $7 for residents and $10 to $15 for adults.

Troy Community Center Indoor Pool

Enjoy the heated indoor pool at the Troy Community Center. Kids will love the lily pads, boat slide, water basketball and fountains. Click here for open swim time hours. Non-resident pricing is $9 for children and $11 for adults.

Warren Community Center Indoor Water Park

The Indoor Water Park at the Warren Community Center is a great place to visit or book a party. There are water slides, splash components, a play structure and lap pool. Click here for hours. Cost is $5 for residents and $10 for non-residents.




Castaway Bay in Sandusky

Castaway Bay features 237 hotel rooms and suites. The 38,000-square-foot indoor tropical waterpark is loaded with water activities for all ages, fitness center, 6,000-square-foot state-of-the-art arcade, a craft and child activity center, three restaurants, and retail shops. The waterpark features four waterslides, a wave pool, tide pool for toddlers and an inland lagoon spa for adults. There’s plenty to do the keep the kids busy all day.


Kalahari Resort

Kids and adults alike are sure to enjoy this 174,000-square-foot indoor water park which features a lazy river, multiple waterslides, a hot tub, water basketball and water walk, wave pool and family raft ride. There are also a number of other activities to enjoy including flow rider and mermaid lessons for an additional cost.

    Great wolf Lodge Sandusky is amazing because the height requirement is lower than almost every place mentioned on this list when accompanied by a parent children 32inches tall can ride all but the biggest slide.
