Winter has arrived in full-force. The snow is finally here, temperatures are in the single digits and your children may be experiencing symptoms of cabin fever. Don’t worry! Indoor winter sports leagues are in full bloom in Kalamazoo. We have compiled a list of facilities that offer basketball, flag football, lacrosse and soccer league options. Winter may keep them indoors, but your children can still enjoy some of their favorite sports.

Kingdom Indoor Center

Do you have a team ready to sign up? Or do you need a team to join? Kingdom Indoor Center has both opportunities available for their indoor recreational soccer leagues and youth flag football leagues. The soccer leagues are open to children ages four to fourteen and the flag football leagues are open to children ages five to fourteen. Both leagues are broken down by age divisions. BJ Sports

Utilizing the SoccerZone facility, BJ Sports offers flag football and lacrosse league options.

BJ Sports’ flag football league is an eight-week session for children ages five to 14. Games begin the week of January 12For pricing, game times and a link to register, click here.

Beginning January 4, BJ Sports also offers indoor lacrosse leagues for children in first grade through high school. First through third grade leagues are co-ed, with a focus of teaching children the fundamentals of the game, along with playing a scrimmage. SoccerZone Oshtemo, 6255 Technology Drive, Kalamazoo, MI 49009 | 269-329-0171

SoccerZone has locations in both Oshtemo and Portage, with both locations offering a variety of soccer league options. Co-ed soccer leagues are offered for children beginning at age five through age eight (U7 and U8). Girls and boys opportunities are available starting at age nine through high school, including U9 and U14. Sessions are offered all winter long. The next session begins February 14 with a registration deadline of February 7.

SoccerZone also offers weekly youth instructional classes for children beginning as young as three years old. The youth instructional opportunities include small sided games and skill development for six weeks. Your child will have the chance to be taught by an experienced team of youth soccer program facilitators. The next instructional program begins the week of January 12.

The Courthouse Athletic Center

The Courthouse Athletic Center in Portage offers youth basketball leagues for boys in third through eighth grade and to girls in fourth through sixth grade. The opportunity to register as a team is available. You can register for a total of four, eight, twelve or sixteen games, depending on the division. Click here for more information or to register.
