Palm trees, tropical drinks, riding the waves – all without a sunburn!

KZOOKids.com had a chance to check out KeyLime Cove Indoor Waterpark Resort a year ago – see out original article highlighting the many attractions you’ll find at the resort. We were thrilled to have a chance to return to this amazing resort as they face a potential sale later this month to Great Wolf Lodge.

Just North of Chicago about an hour, KeyLime Cove is located in Gurnee, Illinois. The resort features 400+ guest rooms/suites and boasts a kid-friendly tropical experience that is sure to delight. KeyLime Cove’s indoor beach boardwalk of shops and restaurants on ‘Duval Street’ are designed to resemble a Key West street. Make sure to spend some time at Leapin’ Lizards which offers drop-in craft activities. At check-in, you’ll also receive a list of scheduled activities such as story times, scavenger hunts, cookie decorating and more!

3 Things We Loved about KeyLime Cove Waterpark Resort

  • The waterpark of course! The HURRICANE VORTEX is a swirling whirlpool ride that my children could not get enough of! This super-sized, spinning inner tube ride has an over 44 ft. drop, enough to make this mom think twice about trying it out. The LIL’ LIMERS’ PLAY POND offers the perfect option for smaller children with three mini-slides and an assortment of playful water attractions. Central to the waterpark is TSUNAMI WASHOUT WAVE POOL where you can ride the waves as long as you want and cruise through KEYLIME CREEK.
  • Accommodations – there is plenty of room! Yes, most of the time is spent in the waterpark, but KeyLime Cove offers spacious island-inspired rooms, such as the Queen Deluxe Room with two queen-size beds and a sofa bed for extra room. Looking for more space? The Mangrove Suite may be the ticket. With its two queen beds separated from the living room, a sleeper sofa, activity table and the wonderful veranda, this is a perfect option for a larger family size.
  • The variety of dining options. Our kids were delighted not to have to leave the waterpark for dinner and we were thrilled to have a number of dining options available. KeyLime Cove offers six food and beverage options on-site. You’ll want to stop by The Crazy Toucan Margarita Grille for a signature tropical drink the whole family will sure to enjoy.

Is this place closing? Or are they only open certain times during the year? Forgive me if i missed that in the article somewhere.
