Looking for family fun for this New Year’s Eve? It doesn’t need to be the midnight hour in order to celebrate ringing in 2018. Have some quality family fun and an early bedtime! We’ve compiled a great list of family-friendly fun in the Kalamazoo area to welcome in a new year.

We advise that you call and confirm details before heading out to any event. Advance reservations are required for many of these events.


New Year’s Eve Family Fun Around Kalamazoo

KWings Game

The annual New Year’s Eve game on 12/31/17 is against the Quad City Mallards and features a 3:00 pm matinee puck drop. The early start time gives fans the chance to enjoy some hard-hitting action before heading downtown to ring in 2018 at New Year’s Fest.

This year there is a special package available called the Hungry Howie’s Friends & Family Deal. For only $35, you receive:

  • Four White Level tickets to the game on 12/31/17 at 3:00 pm
  • 4 Kalamazoo Wings hats
  • $20 Hungry Howie’s voucher


New Year’s Fest

New Year’s Fest is a family-friendly event hosted on December 31st from 5:30 pm to midnight. And, there will be fireworks at midnight!

New Year’s Fest is centrally located at Bronson Park and inside the buildings that surround the park in downtown Kalamazoo (240 W. South Street, Kalamazoo, MI, 49007). The ball drop and fireworks are free to attend. To attend any performances, admission comes in the form of a button, which is available for $7 in advance at 24 locations throughout Kalamazoo County. The buttons will be on sale starting December 15. On New Year’s Eve, buttons are $10 and available in Bronson Park. Children 3 and younger are free.

Holly Jolly Trolley

Take the Holly Jolly Trolley around Downtown Kalamazoo from 5:00 pm to 1:00 am. The Holly Jolly Trolley is a wonderful way to take in the holiday decorations and lights while getting around downtown. To ride, just wait by one of the stops as shown on the map. To help you plan, the trolley leaves Bronson Park at the top and bottom of every hour. It’s free!

New Year’s Eve Family Package at the Radisson

Check out this great option to celebrate the New Year locally. The New Year’s Eve Family Package at the Radisson in downtown Kalamazoo will be fun for the whole family!

Package includes  Standard guest room – choose either one king or two queens, 4 buttons into the DKI downtown Festival, 4 wristbands into the Radisson Kids Center (7:00 pm-12:30 am), Self Parking and Amenity at check in for $280 plus taxes.


Airway Fun Center

Airway Fun Center has a fun way to celebrate the New Years in the daytime with their NYE Party! Choose a start time of 3:30 pm or 6:30 pm and for $99.95 a lane, you get 2.5 hours of bowling, shoe rental for six, party favors for the kids, one large pizza and one pitcher of pop. For $30 more, add an additional pizza, pitcher of pop, and $20 in game play! Advance reservations highly recommended.


New Year’s Eve Skate

New Year’s Eve Skate at The Ice Rink at Millennium Park on 12/31/17 from a 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Prices are: $5 skate & rental package or $3 to skate only. Skate to upbeat music from a local DJ, lighting after dark, and a special countdown to coincide with New Year’s at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, England. This is a great spot for teens and families to celebrate in a safe spot!



New Year’s Eve Late Skate beginning at 7:00 pm. Admission price is $25.00 before December 31st, and $35.00 at the door. Admission includes over five hours of skating, along with prizes and games. Balloon drop for children 9 years and under.

Jungle Joe’s

Join the fun for a New Years Eve GLOW Party on December 31st from 5:00 pm – 8 pm. Call ahead for reservations as this is a ticket only event . Children $15, Adults  $5, and Toddlers $3. Activities include Glow Bounce, crafts, games, prize drawings, and food and drinks specials. Day-of tickets will be $18 per child, subject to availability.


New Year’s Eve Family Fun a Bit Further Away


Hall of Toys 

Head over to Battle Creek for “NYE Get to Bed at a Reasonable Hour” party. The New Year’s party starts at 7:00 and will have kid-friendly games, crafts, and snacks. It all wraps up with a balloon drop and sparkling cider toast at 9:00 pm. Feel free to come in PJs to make the transition to bedtime that much easier!Advance registration is required. Please register online or come into the store to register by December 29th. Cost $20 per family.


Craig’s Cruisers

Craig’s Cruisers will have an exclusive New Year’s Eve event. To join in on the activities, wristbands must be purchased in advance. Tickets are $26.99 per person and include:

  • All you can eat buffet for 3 hours
  • Unlimited Indoor Go-Karts, Laser Tag, Bumper Cars, Ropes Course & Frog Hopper. – Unlimited Non-Redemption Video Games
  • Party favors

There are two choices for time: the Early Party (4:00 pm – 8:00 pm) or the Late Party (9:00 pm – 1:00 am). Guests under 16 require an adult chaperone. Visit online to purchase tickets.


Kids ‘N’ Stuff 

Ring in the new year on New Year’s Eve with special activities, a sparkling punch toast, and a countdown to noon! It’s recommended that you arrive a half hour before noon so kids have time to make their party poppers! Admission to the event is included with general admission, and is free for members.


Forever Curious Children’s Museum

Attend their popular Countdown to Noon event that includes special treats, games, dancing, and a balloon drop at 12:00 pm sharp! Tickets are only $5 a person, and 1 and under are free.
