In the latest issue of the Portager Newsletter, the City of Portage recently announced the development of a new, safe, off-leash dog park now being constructed at South Westnedge Park. South Westnedge Park is located at 9010 South Westnedge and has a large softball complex, a skate park and an in-line hockey rink, among other amenities. The new dog park is located on the west side of South Westnedge Park near the skate park.

Full development of the dog park will include excavation, fencing, landscaping, benches and waste and water stations. The park will offer two separate fenced in areas − one for large dogs and the other for small dogs. Each section will have a walking trail and its own water and waste stations.  The City of Portage is especially grateful to Zoetis, Inc. for the kind $10,000 gift to help fund the construction of the project. The park is expected to be complete and open to the public by late Spring 2017. Dog owners are advised that dogs must be licensed and necessary shots must be up-to-date in order to enter the dog park.

Individuals are welcome to contact the City of Portage at (269) 329-4444 with any questions concerning this exciting project.
