Lace up those skis, winter has arrived early this year! Michigan is a snowy treasure for winter sport fans, and because of that, we’ve compiled a list of all the opportunities you and your families have to experience here in southwest Michigan!

Timber Ridge

Famous in the Midwest, Timber Ridge can be found in Gobles. Whether you are a first time skier looking for lessons or an avid winter sportsman, you are sure to find the right trail for just the right amount of challenge. First things first, if you are a complete newbie, Timber Ridge has a great FAQ section and a 1st Timers Guide that will answer any questions you have. Also, make sure you check the special events calendar for lots of fun competitions, skiing with Santa, and many other fun activities .

LESSONS: Timber Ridge offers many options for lessons for different ski levels, ranging from beginner to advanced.

Bittersweet Ski Resort

If Timber Ridge isn’t for you, how lucky are we to have a second downhill ski resort in Southwest Michigan! Bittersweet Ski Resort can be found in Otsego and even has their own ski school. Bittersweet has a great variety of hills that make it easy to find just the right slope to match with your skill level. You can even check out the conditions on each hill before you go.

LESSONS: Bittersweet has an impressive range of lessons and clubs that vary by age and level, so check out their detailed information

COST: To get the most accurate information, make sure you check out the rates based on hours and rental choices. Kids 6 and under are half off!

Cross Country Skiing

Downhill skiing not your thing? Well, you can still lace up your cross country skis! Kalamazoo has some great options if you are looking to enjoy some of the Michigan winter wonderland we are so lucky to call home. Check out the Kalamazoo Nordic Skiers  for more information about this slower paced winter sport.
