You’ll want to check out one of the great seasonal events that make this an extra special place to visit during the summer. Some of the highlights include: horsedrawn trolley rides, farmers market on the bluff, outdoor concert series, outdoor summer movies, and Aniques on the Bluff.

We love Silver Beach Pizza which is located close to both Curious Kids’ Museum and the Silver Beach Carosal. Located in an old Amtrak depot at the beach this is a super spot for great pizza. They even give the kiddos a small piece of pizza dough to keep them occupied while you’re waiting for your order.  At the top of the bluff is Schu’s is a family-friendly restaurant with lake views and a good kids’ menu. Just want to grab a treat?  Yo – Bubbs Frozen Yogurt or the Chocolate Cafe in downtown St. Joseph are good bets for the sweet tooth in you.

Silver Beach and Silver Beach center are where your kiddos can play all day. The beach itself has beautiful views of Lake Michigan and plenty of sand for building castles. There are also a few playgrounds right on site for both the wee ones (age 2-5) and the older ones.Curious Kids Museum-1

Curious Kids Museum5The Silver Beach Center is a kiddie haven with a hand-painted giant carousel which is super fun the the kids. We love that the carousel is decorated according to each season. (Visit at Halloween and you’ll find the carousel animals dressed in their best Halloween costumes). The Curious Kids’ Museum is one of our favorite kids’s museums in the area. Plan to stay at least a few hours between both museums.

Another “must do” while in St. Joseph is the Whirlpool Centennial Park and Compass Fountain which is adjacent to Silver Beach Center. This is one of the largest splash pads in the area and sure to be a hit with the kiddos.
