I’ve been looking forward to some of the new businesses coming to Kalamazoo. Last week, we just published 10 New Businesses That You’ll Want To Check Out Soon Around Kalamazoo and I’ve been watching the Sushiya location for their opening announcement. I was excited when I saw that they planned to be opened this week and asked a friend (along with her 3-year-old daughter) to come along on a Friday for lunch to check things out.
When we arrived for lunch on Friday, we were one of the few customers at the restaurant. I had the opportunity to speak to their manager, Kaitlyn Brindley, who informed me that their Grand Opening is scheduled for Monday, September 26. “We’re excited to be opening Sushiya which is more of a quick service restaurant and to-go venue.”
“Our full-service restaurant, Sura, will be opening in Texas Corners in late November 2017 and will be a full-service restaurant with a variety of sushi as well as Asian fusion cuisine and Korean BBQ.” Sura’s restaurant will be location at 6909 W. Q Avenue near the BOLD restaurant in Texas Corners. Updates will be posted to the Sushiya Facebook page.
We ordered a few appetizers-the edamame, a salad, and tempura corn-cheese fritters. For our entrees, we shared the California and tuna sushi rolls. All were good and I would definitely come back just for the corn-cheese fritters.
After their Grand Opening, I will definitely stop back for lunch and am looking forward to seeing their full menu. At the time of our visit, they were in process of finalizing their menu. And, I’d love to try out some of the other menu items and specialty sushi rolls.
