Kalamazoo Area Indoor Play Options

Airway Fun Center

Airway Fun Center in Portage has many indoor activities to keep you and your little ones entertained. Features include an arcade, indoor bumper cars, time freak control room, laser tag and laser maze, balladium and more. They also offer many weekly specials, including their “Pancakes and Pins” special on Sundays.


Air Zoo

The Air Zoo is a great place to take guests from out of town or to spend the day with your family. The spacious area has many hands-on activities, especially in the toddler room, along with various rides for kids and adults. Plus, there are so many historical and amazing aircrafts to view. There is something new to discover during each visit to the Air Zoo!

Jungle Joe’s

Jungle Joe’s is a 12,000 square foot indoor, multi-purpose activity center for families with children. The play area has several new inflatables and also games for your playing pleasure. A great way to spend a few hours for the kids to climb, bounce, and play.


Kalamazoo Nature Center

The Kalamazoo Nature Center features activities and events focused on instilling the importance of nature in little ones. The main campus visitor center is a great place for kids to explore. The center features a tropical rain room, exhibits, and even a few animals including a snake, frogs, fish and birds. Click here for hours and admission information.

Kalamazoo Valley Museum

There’s always something happening for you at the Museum whether you’re a kid or a grown-up. Programs for kids and families are hands-on and sometimes feature a special performer. We love the various “Hands-On Happenings” that take place during the summer, school breaks, and various weekend dates.

Preschool circle time programs are offered Monday through Saturday in the Children’s Landscape. The Children’s Landscape area is a designated play and exploration space for children under 5 years old. Admission is free, however, some special events and the planetarium have an admission fee.

Kids Gym, Inc.

Kids Gym has two fully equipped gyms padded and carpeted for your child’s safety. There is a separate preschool gym with unique, kid-sized equipment, such as a mini rock wall. Drop-in open gym time is Saturday from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm. Note: Open gym may be cancelled due to scheduling conflicts so make sure to call to confirm. Cost is $10 per child and age five and under must be accompanied by an adult. Click here to inquire about formal gymnastics classes.

Kingdom Soccer

Kingdom Soccer offers Toddler Open Play on Mondays & Wednesday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Cost is $5 per child, or $40 for a punch card for 10 visits.

Klassic Arcade

Did your grow up loving retro arcade games? You can share that love of games with your children at Klassic Arcade in Gobles. Klassic Arcade is full of arcade games ranging from the 1960’s to 1990’s. Click here for a full list. The best part? You can play all day for only $5 per person!

Revel & Roll West

Revel & Roll West is a new activity center in Kalamazoo (formerly Pinz). You will find something for the whole family to enjoy including a 24-lane bowling alley, laser tag, arcade center with 49 games and billiard tables. While you are there, you can grab a meal at their Legends restaurant. On Tuesdays all amusements and kids meals are half off!

Sky Zone Kalamazoo

Sky Zone Kalamazoo is an indoor trampoline park, complete with dodge ball courts, SkySlam basketball lanes, main court jumping or foam pit. Special events include toddler time, dodgeball, fitness classes, parents night out and even special camps. Save time and fill out your waiver before you arrive. You are required to purchase Sky Socks for jumping, but they can be reused at every visit.

SoccerZone Portage

On Fridays from 10:00 am to 11:00 am your toddler/young child can play drop-in soccer at the Portage location of SoccerZone. For only $3 your little one can join a group of peers for age-appropriate instruction and games with a real soccer coach.


Bookstores and Libraries


Barnes and Noble

Southland Mall’s Barnes and Noble has a fun, colorful play area in their kids section. Surrounded by all of their favorite stories, the play area includse a Lego building table and a train table. Grab a cup of coffee from the in-store Starbucks and let your kids explore.

Locally owned book store, Bookbug, has a cozy playhouse reading nook at their store in the Oakwood Plaza. Your kids can stay after one of their 10:00 am, Thursday morning story times (or stop in any time), to play or preview a new book.

Kalamazoo Public Library

The Kalamazoo Public library has five branches, all with areas for kids where toys, puzzles, puppets, dolls and more are available for play. At their Central location, you will find a large Story Place room where many events take place. In addition to the toys, all of the branches also offer computers loaded with educational games, including iPads at the Central location.

Otsego District Public Library

Check out the newly transformed family-themed learn and play area at the Otsego District Public Library. The space is filled with children’s books, Victorian playhouse and many early literacy toys. Portage District Library

After one of their many events for children, check out their preschool room. Kids can play in their play house, puppet theatre, train table, kitchen set and more. There are also games, puzzles and of course, lots of books!

Grab a chicken sandwich and let the kids enjoy the indoor play area structure at the Westnedge Avenue location.

Crossroads Mall

Crossroads Mall has a convenient “Tot Lot” area for kids in the food court area. “Tot Lot” is open daily during mall hours, but closed from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm for a daily cleaning. In addition to the play area, there are also mechanical cars and the carousel available to ride with purchase. Visit the second Wednesday of every month for Storytime at the Carousel. Storytime is at 11:00 am followed by a free carousel ride, a snack or treat, coloring page and a craft to create and take home.
