Wow! It seems like October is flying by. We’re starting into a BIG Halloween event weekend, so we wanted to highlight as many Halloween events as possible. There’s plenty of opportunity for the kiddos to use their Halloween costumes this weekend. Plus, there are a number of other Special Events that you wont’t want to miss.

Multiple Dates

Zoo Boo | Binder Park Zoo Battle Creek | October 14-October 30 | Trick-or-treat trail, hayride, ZooBoo Express, Binda Conservation Carousel, storytellers, backlight mini golf and more. Haunted Africa is open on Friday & Saturday nights. (Parental guidance is recommended for kids under 12 for Haunted Africa).

Camp Kidwell 14th Annual Halloween Festival | Camp Kidwell, Bloomingdale, MI | October 23-25 | Trick-or-treating, hayrides, haunted cabins (kid friendly), crafts, a haunted trail, games and food. Costumes encouraged, but not required.

Fall Festival | Comstock Library, Comstock | Dress in your Halloween costume for this autumn party, which will include crafts, games, photo booth, cider and donuts! Registration required.

Halloween Hustle 5K Fun Run/Walk | Camp Kidwell, Bloomingdale | A FAMILY Friendly event with a non-timed 5K Run/Walk for everyone to enjoy. Strollers/joggers allowed and costumes are optional.

Making a Difference at Spooky Science Saturday | Leila Arboretum and Kingman Museum, Battle Creek | Enjoy day filled with science experiments, free things to take home, and fun for the whole family!

PMCP Fall Carnival | Parchment United Methodist Church, Parchment | Games, prizes, costume contests, food, bouncy castle, face painting, and more.

Pumpkin Carving – Mess Free!! | Fieldstone Grill, Portage | A mess free, stress free, pre gutted pumpkin carving party! Caramel Apple Bar, Pumpkin seeds and more!

Safe Halloween | Bronson Park, Kalamazoo | Pumpkin bowling, pumpkin ball toss
games, bouncer, magic show, food trucks, arts and crafts, and more.

All Hallows Evening | Historic Charlton Park, Hastings | Trick– or–treating, hay ride, cider, costume parade, and costume contest.

Creatures of the night

(Creatures of the Night: Whoooo Dun It?-Kalamazoo Nature Center)

Creatures of the Night: Whoooo Dun It? | Kalamazoo Nature Center, Kalamazoo | Non-scary Halloween alternative. Meet enchanted critters as they come to life along the trail to help solve a nighttime wildlife mystery. At the end of the walk, make a craft, listen to music, enjoy a snack, and sip some hot cider.

Trunk or Treat | Verhages Fruit Farm & Cider Mill, Kalamazoo | Trunk-or-treating, costume contest, and more.

Family Halloween Party | Family Center for the Arts, Portage | Costume party, costume contest, snacks, family crafts and food art, games, haunted house, fun house, music, a raffle, and family fun! $25 per family of 4 or less. Each additional child is $5.

Sherlock Holmes and the Mystery of the Crown Jewel | Parish Theatre, Kalamazoo | October 16-24 | You’ll love this world premiere of this all-new, mystery-filled musical by the Civic Youth Theatre.

Crybaby Concert with Fontana Chamber Arts | Kalamazoo Central Library | October 24 | This concert features Kalamazoo’s own Park Street Saxophone Quartet! Gather up the family and come on downtown to experience this amazing group!

Star Wars Day | Portage District Library, Portage | October 24 | Join the fun for this event at the PDL. There will be activities, trivia, crafts for the young Jedi, a costume contest with prizes, and photo ops. All with a Star Wars theme, of course!

12th Annual Family Fire Safety Day | Lowe’s, Portage | October 24 | Meet Jake the Fire Safety Dog, visit the E.S.C.A.P.E. Smoke Demonstration trailer, and many more fire safety activities. Halloween costume contest at 11 am.
