Happy Weekend! This is another especially busy weekend in and around Kalamazoo. We have a ton of options for family fun that you won’t want to miss. Our Weekend Picks are just the tip of the iceberg for family adventures you can have this weekend.

WEEKEND PICKS

Some fun highlights for this weekend are:

  • Earth Day Celebration on Saturday from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm at the Kalamazoo Nature Center. Earth Day activities include: community activity tables, children’s crafts, Nature’s Playground open, Ask the Naturalist, free trail hiking, and more!
    FREE.
  • .Kalamazoo Chinese School Program for Families on Saturday from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at the Portage District Library. During this Kalamazoo Chinese School Program for Families, participants have the opportunity to make crafts, learn to play traditional Chinese games, and watch a demonstration of play with the diabolo, also known as a Chinese Yo-Yo. Children and parents will have fun working together, learning how to write Chinese characters, use chopsticks to play games, and try their hand at a diabolo. All ages are welcome. FREE.

  • Spring Concert 2016 by the Ballet Arts Ensemble on Saturday with concerts at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Featuring everything from the drama of Swan Lake to the humor of Too Many Tutus, the performance includes both classical ballet and contemporary dance. Tickets are on sale at Miller Auditorium Box Office. Reserved seats are $10 (advance purchase) and $14 (at the door).
  • Want to get out of town? The MSU Spring Game on Saturday is at 3:00 pm in East Lansing. FREE.
  • Bronson Healthy Living Campus Open House & Tours on Sunday from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm. FREE. Tours, demonstrations and an opportunity to meet with faculty and students will be available all afternoon. Other activities scheduled to celebrate the campus opening include “Tasting Kalamazoo History: Favorite Dishes and Recipes from Our Rich Midwestern Heritage” at the Kalamazoo Valley Museum from 1:30-2:30 p.m.

  • Fundraiser walks and fun runs are happening this weekend, too. Get out and enjoy the weather. Support a good cause!
  • There are many Earth Day Events you won’t want to miss this weekend!
  • The Kalamazoo Junior Symphony performs with the combined choirs of Portage Central, Portage Northern, Vicksburg, and Kalamazoo Central High Schools on Sunday at 4:00 pm at the Chenery Auditorium. Tickets are $15 adults/$10 seniors/$5
