Easter will be here next weekend and this weekend is a BIG weekend for area Easter Egg Hunts and other Easter-related activities. We’ll call this our Weekend Picks/Pre-Easter Edition.  We want to highlight all of the great Easter egg hunts in our area this weekend.  Plus, there are a lot of fun events happening around town that you won’t want to miss!

EASTER EGG HUNTS – AROUND KALAMAZOO

MARCH 19

Community Easter Egg Hunt at Centerpoint Church at 10:00 am, 2345 North 10th Street, Kalamazoo.

  • Egg Hunt, bounce house, dance party, egg walk, games, face painting & more
  • 3 years old- 5th grade
  • FREE
  • Adult supervision required

Kalamazoo Area Runners Kids’ Easter Egg Hunt and Fun Run from 2:30 pm and 4:30 pm (Easter Egg Hunt at 3:30pm), at Portage West Middle School, 7145 Moorsbridge Rd., Portage.

  • Easter Egg Hunt at 3:30 pm.
  • FREE.
  • Refreshments and door prizes provided after the run.
  • Online registration closes March 18th at 12:00 pm.
  • Event Day registration will be in the School Cafeteria between 2:30 and 3:15 pm.
  • Bring your own basket.
  • This event is free. Donations will be accepted to benefit Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes.

Plainwell Community Easter Egg Hun at 10:00 am at Hicks Park in Plainwell.

  • Easter Egg Hunt starts at 10:00 am.
  • Live bunnies & chicks at The Calico Rabbit. Envy will be hosting coloring and crafts as well.
  • FREE.

Easter Egg Hunt by the Mattawan Business Association starting at 10:00 am starts behind the library in Mattawan.

  • FREE.
  • Check out the Community Carnival sponsored by the Mattawan Lions Club.
  • Easter Bunny will be on site for photos.

March 20

Haven and Spring Valley present “Easter Eggstravaganza 2016″ at 3:00 pm at Haven Church, 5350 North Sprinkle Road, Kalamazoo.

  • Open to ages 1 year old – 5th grade accompanied by an adult.
  • FREE.
  • Easter Egg Hunt is inside this year and kids will be divided according to age.
  • Door prizes, bounce houses, egg dying, face painting, child identification card, creation booth, crafts, magic show and silly song sing-a-long.

Family Fusion Easter Experience at 5:00 pm at the Lake Center Bible Church, 995 Romence Road, Portage.

  • Family worship, games, and an Easter Egg Hunt.
  • FREE.
  • Complete “ticket” to the event here.

Tike Hike & Egg Hunt at 10:30 at Bow in the Clouds Preserve on Nazareth Rd., between Gull Rd. & Parchmount Ave. in Kalamazoo.

  • A tike hike followed by an Egg Hunt with the help of Hike It Baby that’s suited for little ones.
  • FREE. RSVP is requested, but not required.

Stuart Little | Show opens on March 18 and runs through March 25 | Kalamazoo Civic Theatre

  • Stuart Little opens in the Kalamazoo Civic Auditorium this Friday at 7:30 pm. THREE matinee performances this weekend. Saturday at 1 pm and 4 pm and Sunday at 2 pm. Great for kids of all ages. Gilmore Family Concerts presents Terrence Wilson | March 19 at 11:00 am | Kalamazoo Public Library, Central Location

  • Experience a 50-minute concert of world class piano music accompanied by engaging visuals. Admission is FREE, and the entire family is invited. The concert this weekend is the “Baby Grands” version of our Gilmore Family Concert Series for ages 0-5 any family members. Modeled after Fontana’s “Crybaby Concerts,” the little ones are able to dance around, move, come and go, and snack as the music of a grand piano plays.

Maple Syrup Day | March 19 from 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm | MSU’s W.K. Kellogg Experimental Forest

  • Take the day to enjoy the forest’s transition to spring and explore the art of maple syrup production. Kellogg Forest volunteers will host special activities from noon until 5 p.m. Visitors can enjoy a wagon ride to the sugar bush, view the sugar bush with a spider web of maple tubing, visit Maple Manor and taste a fresh syrup sample. Children’s activities include face painting, creating tree cookie medallions and playing traditional games.
  • The admission fee is $1 per person (children two years old and younger are free).

 

St. Patrick’s Day Party | March 19 from 1:00 – 4:00 pm | Kalamazoo Valley Museum

  • From dress-up to decorations, there is something for everyone! Color a St. Patrick’s Day suncatcher, a leprechaun finger puppet, and a pin. Decorate a hat, a bracelet, and a clover necklace. Lace a rainbow, design a picture frame, and create a pot of gold and a fairy. May the luck of the Irish be with you as you move from craft to craft during this FREE program.
