It’s Halloween Weekend! Get the kiddos dressed up in their Halloween costumes and head out to have some Halloween fun. It’s one of the biggest weekends of the year for family-friendly events and activities.

KZOOKIDS HALLOWEEN PICK’S FOR FAMILY FUN

Zoo Boo | Binder Park Zoo Battle Creek | October 19-October 30. ZooBoo hours are Wednesday-Friday 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 1:00p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $5.50 for Zoo members and $6.50 for non-members. Activities include hayrides, train and carousel rides, paintball, black light mini-golf and the popular BooVille Carnival. Magicians and ventriloquists will perform on the weekend and special animal presentations will add to the Halloween excitement. READER TIP: Get there early if possible. We went last weekend and waited in line 45 minutes to get in.
Safe Halloween | Bronson Park, Kalamazoo | October 29 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Safe Halloween is a family event organized by the City of Kalamazoo Parks and Recreation Department that provides an alternative to trick-or-treating in a safe and action-packed environment. There will be various fall themed activities to include pumpkin decorating, costume contests, pumpkin racing, Lord of the Gourd and a bounce house. FREE.
Safe Halloween at the Kalamazoo Valley Museum | Kalamazoo Valley Museum, Kalamazoo | October 29. Visit the Kalamazoo Valley Museum for Haunted House crafts between 12:00 and 4:00 pm Spooky Space Adventures in the Challenger Learning Center from 12:30 to 3:30 pm and Nitewalk planetarium show every half hour between 11:00 a.m and 3:30 pm all FREE!
Orange Ice Game | Wings Stadium, Kalamazoo | October 30 game starts at 3:00 pm and doors open at 2:00 pm. Help your kids get a head start on their trick-or-treating at the annual Orange Ice game. Niles Scream Park will be providing props and decorations throughout the concourse for fans to interact with, while the Meijer food truck will there passing out your favorite fall treats.
Creatures of the Night: Tricks and Tales | Kalamazoo Nature Center, Kalamazoo | October 29 from 4:00-7:00 pm. Visitors will learn all about them from fun and friendly giant size creatures. At the end of the walk, make a craft, visit LIVE animals, enjoy a snack, and sip some hot cider. Members: $6/participating child, Non-member $8/participating child, adults at no charge. (Note: no additional admission fees for event).
Ross-Augusta Annual Haunted House | Ross-Augusta Fire Station, Augusta | October 29 from1:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Kid-friendly haunted house designed for kids 12 and under. Trick-or-treat through the haunted house, see fire trucks, learn about fire safety and more! Suggested $1 donation to enter

Safe Halloween | Bronson Park, Kalamazoo | A variety of fall and Halloween activities. There will be plenty of candy to fill Halloween bags, and complementary cider and Sweetwater’s donut holes will be provided while supplies last.
All Hallows Evening | Historic Charlton Park, Hastings | Trick– or–treating, hay ride, cider, costume parade, and costume contest.

Spooky Spaceship Adventure | Kalamazoo Valley Museum, Kalamazoo | A brave and daring crew is needed to help retrieve an abandoned spacecraft. Appropriate for ages 2 and up; children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Safe Halloween: Haunted Houses | Kalamazoo Valley Museum, Kalamazoo | Create a variety of items you would find in a haunted house, from cobwebs to dishes, brooms, and lanterns. Design ghosts, assemble bats, tombstones and much more.
Nitewalk | Kalamazoo Valley Museum, Kalamazoo | Take a spooky Nightwalk through a cemetery, caves, and dark corridors. (Not recommended for small children or those easily spooked).
Halloween at Burdick’s for Breakfast | Burdick’s for Breakfast, Kalamazoo | Halloween character breakfast, come dressed up! Enjoy delicious Halloween treats and get entered into a costume contest to win a free breakfast.
2016 Jack-O’-Lantern 5K and 10K Trail Run | South Westnedge Park, Kalamazoo | A unique and challenging varied terrain trail running experience where nature’s attributes combine with holiday-themed fun. Registration required.

Dog O Ween | Oak Ridge Feed, Kalamazoo | Costume contests, canine “Tricks for Treats” obstacle course, Pet Adoption Event, scavenger hunt, and more!
Fall Harvest Festival | St. Michael Lutheran Church, Portage | A Christ-centered alternative to Halloween. Enjoy a fun family-friendly evening with games, prizes, donuts, dancing and a parade of candy. Children are invited to wear family-friendly costumes (non-scary).
Trunk or Treat | Victory Baptist Church, Portage | Everyone is welcome to join the merry, not scary celebration. Activities include trick-or-treating, bounce house, and refreshments.
