Chili Cook-Off

Saturday, January 24 from 11:30 am -1:30 pm in downtown Kalamazoo. 

  • Downtown Kalamazoo’s Annual Chili Cook-off is how we stay warm on a cold Saturday in January. It’s our annual tradition to explore downtown, sampling over 30 chili recipes, and visiting new and familiar retail stores and restaurants. This year we’ve added a familiar sight, The Holly Jolly Trolley! The Holly Jolly Chili Trolley, sponsored by Consumers Credit Union, will be making the rounds, transporting chili tasters all over downtown so you don’t miss a single one!


Winter Blues Drop-in Crafts at Comstock Library

Saturday, January 24 from 10:30 am – 3:30 pm at Comstock Library.  

  • WINTER BLUES DROP-IN CRAFTS: All ages. No registration is required for this free drop-in session. Choose 3 crafts from a variety of previously offered crafts. Quantities and styles may be limited.


Winter Woods: Tree ID

Sunday, January 25 from 2:00 pm-3:00 pm at the Kalamazoo Nature Center in Kalamazoo. 

  • Winter is a fantastic time to practice your tree identification skills. Even without the help of leaves, there are many features which complete the story of a tree’s identity. Join us to learn about the important characteristics of winter trees. Dress in layers as we will spend most of our time outdoors.
    Members: Free, Adults: $7/Seniors $6, Children & Students (4-17) $4, Children 3 & Under: Free.



Family Hockey Day in the Zoo

Sunday, January 25 starting at 3:00 pm at Wings Stadium in Kalamazoo. 

  • Family Hockey Day in the ‘Zoo presented by Consumers Credit Union. First 500 kids will receive a FREE giveaway item. Free Post-Game Skate with the Players presented by United Healthcare. Kids on the Go (helping kids stay healthy), presented by Bronson. Kalamazoo 500- The K-Wings are hosting a three and under tricycle race during intermission.




Winterfest and Montessori School Open House

Saturday, January 24 from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm at the Richland campus of the Montessori School. 

  • Please join us for a winter party at our Richland campus. Invite your friends, family, and neighbors to come see what The Montessori School (Kalamazoo & Richland, MI) is all about. Join us for fun afternoon of winter wonder and Montessori magic: winter craft projects, sledding (bring your own sled), cocoa and popcorn, smiles, and fun! No snow? No problem! The party will move inside.
