Happy Memorial Day Weekend! I always think of this weekend as the official kickoff to summer. charlton park

9th Annual Charlton Park Day

Saturday, May 23 from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm at Historic Charlton Park in Hastings. 

  • Bring the whole family to Charlton Park Day. There will be free hot dogs, chips, drinks. Come on out and tour the buildings, maybe play some old fashioned games by the old school, meet some of the volunteers that will be in the buildings. Come on out for Charlton Park Day, Free Admission. This day is in honor of Irving Charlton the founder of Charlton Park.


May’d in Michigan

Saturday to Monday, May 23 – 25 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm at the Old World Village in Augusta. 

  • May’d in Michigan is once again returning to The Olde World village for another Memorial Day Weekend extravaganza. Come Support Michigan artisans, crafters, companies, growers, entertainers and those who produce anything here in this great state while you enjoy fantastic live entertainment, visit a wide variety of amazing vendors for your shopping needs, some of the best food you may ever eat. Admission is FREE! We are open Rain or Shine.


Creature Feature: Honeybees

Saturday, May 23 from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm at the Kalamazoo Nature Center in Kalamazoo. 

  • Drop in between noon and 1:00 pm to see and learn about some of our exhibit animals up close and personally! Creatures will be handled by trained staff and animal care volunteers who are eager to answer your questions. Normal admission fees apply. Program is free to KNC members.



Tike Hikes at Chipman Preserve

Sunday, May 24 from 10:30 am – 11:30 am at the Chipman Preserve in Comstock Township. 

  • Please join us for Sunday morning nature tike hikes at Chipman Preserve. Hikes will last about 1 hour at typical toddler pace (lots of stops, wandering in the wrong direction, stopping to look at leaves and bugs, etc.) Please see for directions and more information.
