Happy October! It’s officially starting to feel like fall, right? Check out some of these family friendly events happening around Kalamazoo for this weekend. Consider…
FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
Friday, October 3 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm in downtown Kalamazoo.
- A free event held on the first Friday of every month, Art Hop is an evening of art exhibits and events; one of the great things to do in Kalamazoo. It’s fun, interactive and a great way to explore downtown that you can do alone, with friends or family, and you don’t have to be “artist” to enjoy it!
Saturday and Sunday, October 4 and 5 from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm on Saturday and 9:00 am – 3:00 pm on Sunday at Scotts Mill County Park in Scotts.
- Presented by the Scotts Olde Tyme Power & Equipment Association. Activities Include: Hayrides to the Pumpkin Patch, Corn Shocks for Sale, Pumpkins for the Kids, Husker Shredder, Antique Tractors, Blacksmithing, Flea Market & Crafts, Flour Mill Demonstrations, Food Concessions, Hit & Miss Engines, Kiddie Train, Planer, Rope Making, Sawmills, Shingle Mill, Oil Pull & Steam Engines, and Old Engines.
Saturday, October 4 from 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm at the Kalamazoo Public Library, Central location in Kalamazoo.
- Take your family to the library the first Saturday of every month! Enjoy stories, activities, guests, and door prizes. In October, participate in the Global Cardboard Building Challenge with the WMU McGinnis Reading Clinic.
Saturday, October 4 from and Sunday, October 5 from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm at Fat Blossom Farm in Allegan.
- Join us for our Enchanted Forest Festival October 4, 5, 11, and 12. Come any time between 10am and 4pm, walk the trails, build in the woods, and enjoy the beauty and magic of nature. Entry is just $5 per person; bring a picnic and stay as long as you like.
See our Fall and Harvest Event Round-Up for a great number of farms to visit this season and enjoy all of the activities that they have to offer. We’ve added several events to the listing this week.
See our U-Pick Apple/Pumpkin Guide for great ideas on where to go. Make sure that you call ahead if you plan to pick apples to see what’s available.
Plus, there’s still time to check out the Art Prize in Grand Rapids with over 1500 pieces of art to view around town. (Get there early in the day to avoid the crowds). And there are numerous festivities going on around town such as 36th Annual Bangor Apple Festival, Octoberfest at Olde World Village, and and Oktoberfest at the Arcadia Creek Festival Place. Or just hunker down and watch one of the Fall movies at the Kalamazoo 10 or the Celebration Cinema in Portage.
These events and more can be found on our Events Calendar at KZOOkids.com. What fun things will you be doing this weekend?
