In Kalamazoo and southwest Michigan your family will be be able to admire artwork, get free admission into several museums, watch colorful kites flying high in the sky, try out some fishing and fly casting, learn about nature and helping local wildlife, and so much more!

Top Picks for the Weekend for Family Fun
Friday. On Friday from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM make your way to downtown Battle Creek for a celebration of arts and culture! Spring Into the Arts is Battle Creek’s very own art celebration. The “People’s Choice Award” is back again, allowing the public to vote for their favorite work of art.
Friday. Everyone is invited to enjoy all the galleries and exhibitions on view at the KIA for free Friday night from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM, in honor of the 9th annual Art Museum Day.
Saturday. Have you ever wondered what one of the museums in Marshall has to offer? As part of Tourism Day, many of the museums in Marshall will be open to the public for FREE on Saturday from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM. So grab the family and come down and explore any or all the museums and make a day of it!
Saturday and Sunday. From 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM on Saturday and 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM on Sunday, enjoy a day at the beach at Grand Haven State Park as the sky is filled with colorful kites of all types and sizes.
World-famous stunt kite fliers perform to music on the center flying field while kites larger than a school bus hover just to the south. Bring your own kite to fly on the open flying field at the north end of the event, or test fly the year’s newest kites on one of the manufacturers’ fields. Be sure to stop at the south end of the tent for family fun!

Bring the entire family to Ramona Park from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM to celebrate the onset of summer on this exciting day at the shoreline. Families of all ages and abilities can experience the numerous benefits associated with fishing, boating and aquatic conservation.
Enjoy engaging activities such as lure making, knot tying and fly casting. Try out a kayak or standup and much more.
Sunday. Michigan made and proud of it! Live animal ambassadors will be at Schrier Park in Portage from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM on Sunday to help us to highlight all the great nature found right in our backyards. Learn how to help our local wildlife through simple steps you can do at home.
