When (or even IF) to pierce your child’s ear is an extremely important decision – it’s not for everyone! The next major decision is where to get this done. There are several options in the Kalamazoo area to consider – such as retail stores and piercing parlors.
We’ve researched and found the places listed that offer ear piercing. As with any important decision, ask friends about their experience and results, visit the location prior and have all of your questions answered to make sure you and your little one are comfortable with the process. You can also check with your pediatrician or dermatologist to see if they pierce ears, or ask for recommendations.

Kitten Flower Boutique
426 S. Burdick Street, Kalamazoo | 269-775-1032
Kitten Flower Boutique will pierce a child’s ear, generally ages 4 and up. The cost is $25 for the piercing, plus the cost of the earring selection – they have a large selection of options. Children under 8 years old DO require an appointment – this will allow 2 piercers to be present to do the ears simultaneously. Ages 8 and up can be done on a walk-in basis during regular hours. Parental I.D. is required, along with a copy of the child’s birth certificate.
Art and Soul Tattoo and Body Piercing, Inc.
6021 S. Westnedge Ave., Portage | 269-344-7685
Art & Soul pierces ears, generally ages 7 and up. Parental I.D. is required. Art & Soul does take walk-in’s, but it is probably best to make an appointment.
Waiting six to eight weeks to change your earrings after having them pierced can be more painful than the piercings themselves! One tip – as soon as you get home, have your child make something to mark off the days — a paper chain works great, as does a calendar where she can cross off the days, one by one.
