Hi! Our New Years is special because it has been a bit of a tradition to have my youngest siblings down for a visit. My husband and I have two kids of our own and I am the oldest of 5. My youngest brother and sister think it’s pretty cool to come visit big sis (they live up near Howars City). We all have fun and I am so thankful that we are a close family despite our differences in age and the miles that seperate us. I would love to step it up a notch this year and make this New Years with my family, one that we will never forget!!!!

For the past several years my husband and I have forgone going out to celebrate with friends to stay home with our young children. We always insulge in chips & dip (rare occasion), Oreos (the only time throughout the year), sparkling cider to drink out of fancy champaign glasses, and shrimp with cocktail sauce (my stepsons favorite). We spend the evening playing board games, watching favorite shows, and playing until the younger two fall asleep. Then we watch the various countdown shows until the big moment. My favorite part is when everyone shares their best and worst moments of the year and tells what they are most looking forward in the new year!

When I was younger my parents made us spend New Years with them. Finally, when I went to college I got to go out with friends and it was fun for a couple of years. A few years in I realized I really just wanted to spend it with my parents because they always looked forward to it. Our tradition was to make homemade elephant ears and watching the ball drop on tv. I’m looking forward to keeping that tradition with my kids.

Our son is 2 1/2 so we are still figuring out our family traditions. We recently moved 750 miles away from Kalamazoo so my husband can continue his education. And while Kansas is nice, it just isn’t Kalamazoo! We would live the opportunity to stay at the beautiful Radisson and be so close to family and friends for New Year’s.
