  19. Johanna May 7, 2015 at 5:51 pm

One of my favorite things to do with the kids (nanny & babysitter) is a trip to the Wolf Lake Fish Hatchery. Not only do you get the fun of the tour and visitors’ center, you also get fishing in the show pond during events, tons of wildlife, and plenty of paths for walking around and enjoying the day. The best part is that there’s something for any age and mobility, making it an ideal destination for the whole family (or group of friends).

We’ve been going for years and will no doubt be going for many years to come.

  20. Kristie Jaffke May 7, 2015 at 6:16 pm

There are so many “favorite things” in Kalamazoo I’m not sure I can name just one!! I really love Gazelle Sports for nice exercise gear and help finding the right shoes; and the Kalamazoo Farmer’s Market for healthy, local food. One of my favorite activities with my daughter is our Saturday morning trip to the market downtown or in Texas Corners. 🙂

  26. Sarah T May 7, 2015 at 7:35 pm

My favorite thing would include a day at the oshtemo park with my husband and 3 kids. We would play tennis and then let the kids play at the park while me and my husband get lunch together. When the kids got tired, we would take them home and then when it was bedtime, my husband and I would enjoy a nice glass of wine. Ahhh that would be so refreshing! The kids and we all would have a great day! Everyones happy, mommas happy! The best day ever! Thank you for letting all us moms have this opportunity.

  27. Rebecca May 7, 2015 at 8:35 pm

My husband, our son and I just came home from a four mile hike at the Kalamazoo Nature Center! We love it out there. Our kiddo has learned a ton about the environment and animals. He even started us recycling!

But after a long day on the trails, I’m craving a night out on the town now, just us grown ups. My favorite place to spend (rare) date nights is the Union, sipping a raspberry truffle martini and smashing on a fried green tomato BLT.

    Heck yes.

  28. Jamie May 8, 2015 at 12:31 am

My “favorite thing” would include a mother/son pedicure.Things like that are typically labeled mother/daughter things when you see them but my son understands the value of sometimes pampering yourself and not having a daughter I love that he is game for these types of moments together sometimes. Following this treat we would love a gift card for a family dinner at a Red Lobster. A drink and chocolates from Chocolatea and a book purchased with a gift cert from Bookbug would be a great cap to a fabulous time.

  34. Tammy R. May 8, 2015 at 12:37 pm

We have so many great family-friendly businesses in the Kalamazoo area that it’s difficult to choose just one to mention, so I’ll pick one for each season. In the fall, hands down, our favorite place is Gull Meadow Farms. What a spectacular place for family with children of all ages! Jumping pillows + fresh-made donuts + crisp autumn air = a great day in Southwest Michigan! Come winter, Echo Valley is the place to take snow tubing to a new level! In spring, the u-pick strawberries are calling at Mandigo Farms! What a fabulous opportunity to spend time outdoors, enjoying nature at its most delicious. Speaking of nature, when summer rolls around, the Kalamazoo Nature Center is the best place for family nature hikes, programming for the kids (their summer camps are the best!), and all-around great educational programs. We are very fortunate to have so many superb opportunities in our neck of the woods!

  35. jennifer B May 8, 2015 at 9:29 pm
