Step Away from the Screen and Step into the Theatre
Set aside the electronics and bring the family to the Parish Theatre, to experience a magical, unforgettable live performance of The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane.
Written by Newberry Award Winning author Kate DiCamillo, this story is sure to captivate children and adults alike.
“Open your heart. Someone will come. Someone will come for you. But first you must open your heart.” ― The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane
A Story of Love and Courage
Called a modern “Velveteen Rabbit”, this is a remarkable story of love and courage. Edward Tulane is a vain and self-centered expensive toy rabbit. After being accidentally thrown overboard on an ocean voyage, he cannot speak or move.
As years pass by, Edward meets many different people in many different situations: an older grieving couple who find comfort in Edward’s presence, a hobo and his dog who introduce Edward to a whole community of homeless wanderers, a farmer in need of a scarecrow, a sad little boy and his very ill sister, and finally a doll mender and an old doll who teach Edward an invaluable lesson.
He beings a whirlwind journey of meeting new and different people and learns what it means to love, lose love, and look for love again.
The Civic Youth Theatre troupe is excited to present The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane with performances on November 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 16 and 17. Tickets are on sale now for just $10 each and can be purchased online or by calling the box office 269-343-1313. Note, the Friday, November 16th show is a special “Meet the Company” Performance.
The Civic Youth Theatre program is excited to be the first in Southwest Michigan to perform The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane and your family can be one of the first to experience this première.
