When my children were younger they begged to go to an overnight camp. I wish I had known about Van Buren Youth Camp.

Van Buren Youth Camp is a place where children can be themselves. VBYC helps young people discover themselves and grow as individuals. Campers build self-confidence, positive relationships, personal integrity and  responsibility.

Not to mention campers have a boatload of FUN- VBYC is all about leadership, fellowship, creativity and fun!

Lifelong Friendships are Made at Camp

The Van Buren Youth Camp experience begins with Little Bear Camp. It is a short session (three days and two nights) designed to help campers adjust to living comfortably in a group setting, assist children with exploring outdoors and participating in the camp experience. Campers will swim, canoe*, play games, sing, dance, participate in skits, and eat great camp food. (*Weather or wind permitted).

There are a wide range of camp options for grade levels up through high school.

The Explorer session allows campers (grades 3 – 7) to continue to learn and improve upon camp skills, encourage leadership, and build community, but with a specific focus on nature and outdoor living skills. This camp is held in mid-August – ideal for when kids have complained of boredom for the umpteenth time.

More Details Van Buren Youth Camp

Van Buren Youth Camp is a residential, co-ed camp on the shores of Great Bear Lake, in Bloomingdale, Michigan about 35 minutes northeast of Kalamazoo.

Every Camp session includes campfire skits and songs and all-camp games like water wars and Capture the Flag. Each camp session provides time for campers to plan activities together, take polar-bear swims and participate in Evening Rec every night. At Evening Rec. campers may participate in a carnival or whatever wacky surprise the staff devises.

All of these activities and classes promote opportunities for making friends, sharing, and laughing all the while having a fun-filled camp week.
