New Nonprofit Thrift Shop Opens on Gull Road

Thrifters, rejoice: there’s a new shop in town. And it’s not your typical thrift store. It’s bigger than that.

You know that victorious feeling you get when you score a great deal thrifting, especially when you know you’re supporting sustainable shopping? Think bigger.

That satisfaction you feel when supporting a locally owned nonprofit rather than a gigantic, corporate-owned business? Even bigger.

Because when you shop at Kalamazoo’s newest thrift store, ThriftAbility, you’re not just doing good for the environment and local businesses. You’re empowering individuals with disabilities through meaningful employment and hands-on skill building.

And that’s what makes this shop truly special.

Why ThriftAbility Should Be Your Next Thrift Stop

As part of MRC Industries, Inc.’s program, every ThriftAbility purchase supports meaningful, paid opportunities for individuals with disabilities in our community.

Sure, you’ll find all sorts of budget-friendly treasures found at most thrift stores:

  • Clothing and shoes
  • Housewares
  • Home decor
  • Children’s toys
  • Books
  • Unique finds

You’ll also find items by MRC artWorks, a program that supports local artists with disabilities with proceeds from their sales.

But the priceless perks are even better, because every purchase empowers ability.

You’re helping individuals build confidence and prepare for employment in the broader community.

You’re fostering independence and helping to build brighter futures right here in our very own SWMI community.
