Ignite Your Candle Love
Ever buy a candle and wonder how it’s made? Or smelled a fragrance so intoxicating you wondered how on earth it was developed? As a candle “junkie”, I’ve pondered such thoughts and found these answers and more at the Kalamazoo Candle Company.
This company is local to Kalamazoo in more ways than one. Both the Marketplace and the Factory are located in the heart of Kalamazoo. Attention to detail is paramount. Each new fragrance takes six to nine months to develop. Every candle – poured by hand.
Their candles are made of soy wax, paper-core cotton wicks, and zero added dyes. Wouldn’t it be fun to make your own candles with these high-quality ingredients? You can!
Kalamazoo Candle Company has brought back their popular Kids Day Out sessions where you can make your own candles- and include your kids in the experience!
Kids and Candles – They Can Go Together
As parents, we normally steer our children away from candles for safety purposes, right? Kalamazoo Candle Company has launched their very own Kids’ Day Out, a weekly drop-in candle making class. No appointment is necessary- stop by anytime between 10:00 AM and Noon or 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM on Tuesdays and make your own unique wax creation.
Your candle is your very own masterpiece. Select a fragrance or combine multiple fragrances to make the perfect scent. This creative process will even involve making your own custom label to fit the 6.5-ounce candle tin.
We love the burning time on the 6.5-ounce size tins – they are guaranteed to burn for at least 35 hours.
Ready to Make Candles?
When: Held every Tuesday from 10 AM-noon and 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM. Drop-in sessions are for kids ages 12 and under, with an adult.
Drop-in Session: Safety goggles are provided and parental assistance is required to supervise the use of equipment. Wax will be cooled down and completely safe to touch.
Note: candles take about 35 minutes to cool. This provides a great opportunity to shop around the Marketplace (hello Rocket Fizz!) or stroll downtown while you wait. Completed candles can also be picked up within one to two business days.

Cost: Drop-in class is only $10 per child (includes studio fee and one 6.5 oz tin candle) and $7 for each additional candle made. During this time, receive 10% off any Marketplace purchases up to $100.
