Dental Care that Goes the Extra Mile to Inspire Smiles

Let’s face it, parents and caregivers know kids aren’t generally thrilled to visit the dentist, but thanks to Dr. Jody and the staff at Portage Pediatric Dentistry, your kids may be begging to return to the dentist a lot sooner than you think.

Portage Pediatric Dentistry treats children from infancy through adolescence in a state-of-the-art dental facility.

More Fun from the Moment You Walk in to the Office

Patients come first and it is evident the minute you enter through the door. In addition to the main seating area, there are colorful rainbow-floored play areas designed to entertain and comfort children while waiting.

The office has a one-of-a-kind interactive Lightzilla wall as well as a magnetic tube maze. Make sure your kids look closely, and they might see the door that the Tooth Fairy uses after visiting her patients.

Portage Pediatric Dentistry is Expanding

Portage Pediatric Dentistry is proud to announce and welcome Dr. Jackie Hwang to join the practice this summer.

Dr. Jackie Hwang grew up in Texas and attended UT Austin for undergrad. She received her DMD degree in 2018 at the University of Pennsylvania. It was while in Philadelphia that she met her fiance, Nick, who grew up in Canton, Michigan. She has been at Riley Children’s Hospital and Indiana School of Dentistry Indianapolis for the past two years receiving her pediatric dentistry master’s degree and graduates in June.

Dr. Jackie and Nick are getting married this summer. Nick will be teaching math full time at Loy Norrix High School and Dr. Jackie will be joining the practice full time in August 2020. They are both looking forward to calling Portage home.

Find Kindness in Their Approach

Kindness, not fear, reigns supreme at the office. Each appointment is tailored to the individual child, where they will receive the care, compassion, and understanding they deserve. This will help them, and you, know exactly what’s going on at all times. Children are encouraged to look at their own x-rays and be in charge of their own health.

My goal is that every child and parent receive not only exceptional dental treatment but feel like a part of our dental family.  We are dedicated to tailoring your child’s appointment to their individual needs so they leave feeling cared for, understood and excited to come back.  Yes, going to the dentist can be fun!” Dr. Jody says.

  COMMUNITY ADVOCATE

Dr. Jody’s office takes pride in educating children and caregivers on the importance of preventative care for healthy teeth. Dr. Jody talks to youth at area schools. The office works with other local dentists to adopt methods for dental care that are less invasive for the patient.

Additionally, the office brings education and kindness to the community. During the summer they hold a random acts of kindness challenge to spread kindness through the community.

Who leads the charge on these events? Why, the Tooth Fairy, of course! She has been known to hold special events and visit preschools.
