Do You Have Rock Hunters In Your Family?
My kids LOVE rocks, and somehow, they make their way into a variety of activities:
- Went to Ramona Park Beach –> brought home rocks
- Walked the trails at West Lake Nature Preserve –> brought home rocks
- Bought new paint supplies –> painted rocks

We recently read about geodes (yes, we also have books about rocks), and my son asked to see some in person.
A quick Google search found Geoscape Rock Shop in Paw Paw, and we visited on a recent weekend.
Visiting this shop has become one of our favorite things to do in Paw Paw.

Plan Your Visit to Geoscape Rock Shop
Ready to go rock shopping? Here’s where to find the shop and when it’s open:
Shop Location
Find Geoscape Rock Shop on Red Arrow Highway, just west of the Paw Paw District Library.
The bright blue RJ’s Complete Auto Repair is across the street.
Visitors are welcomed by a dinosaur at the entrance (don’t worry- he’s friendly).

This family-owned shop has been in Paw Paw since 2015. They have a second location in Ann Arbor and also offer online shopping.

Shop Hours
Geoscape Rock Shop is open seven days per week.
Note the reduced hours on Sundays:
| Monday – Saturday: 10 AM – 6 PM |
| Sunday: 11 AM – 4 PM |
Start Shopping in the Parking Lot
If you’re in the market for BIG rocks, shop outside. These beauties come in many varieties and are sold by the pound.
Looking for something a bit smaller (and lighter)? Head inside.
While this shop may not look like a large space, don’t underestimate its impressive inventory indoors.
What You’ll Find Inside the Shop
Venture inside and you’ll find rocks in every corner of the shop, priced per piece.
You’ll also find an AMAZING staff that is friendly and knowledgeable about every inch of the place. My daughter didn’t see any small cats in the soapstone animals; a staff member quickly returned with a box full of them (she took home three).
Find these items inside:
- Fossils
- Carved Works of Art
- Jewelry
- Geodes
- Oodles of Assorted Rocks and Minerals
More Rock Activities in Kalamazoo
While we loved our experience at Geoscape Rock Shop, don’t let your geological activities end there.
We’ve rounded up more activities for local rock enthusiasts in Southwest Michigan:
1 – Paint Rocks + Share Them with Local Groups
Painting rocks has grown in popularity by leaps and bounds. So much so that Facebook groups are dedicated to painting them, hiding them, and sharing these treasures when discovered.
Not an artist? Don’t worry. Some prefer to be rock hunters, rather than painters.
Rocks are tagged with the FB group names so you can share your discoveries.
