Where to Find Haunted Houses in Southwest Michigan
Do you like scary movies?
This famous line kicked off the Scream franchise and will forever be associated with the iconic Ghostface character.
While I saw Scream (and its sequels), I’ll admit that I don’t really enjoy scary movies- but I do love Halloween.
Like both? For those who love Halloween and a good scare, read on for some haunted houses in Kalamazoo and nearby cities.
We’ve found attractions safe for all ages and scarier options for teens and adults.

All Ages: Ross-Augusta Fire Station Haunted House
Want some Halloween fun without the scare? Visit the RAFD during its annual kid-friendly haunted house at the fire station.

Haunted Houses for Big Kids & Adults
These haunted attractions are for the older crowd and deliver scary, sometimes gory, experiences.
Many of these experiences are too intense for tweens and younger kids.
Be sure to contact the hosts with questions on “scare level” and suggested ages.
We recommend purchasing tickets in advance to secure your date and timeslot.
Haunt Park
As Kalamazoo’s only Haunted Scream Park, Haunt Park has been in the spooky business for over two decades.
They offer four different attractions:
- Psycho Ward
- Nightmares
- Clown Mansion
- Camp Crystal Lake Paintball
Ticket options include two, three or four attractions, starting at $20 (plus fees).
Ages: Haunt Park is not recommended for children under 12. An adult must accompany visitors under 16.

Nightmare Realm
Nightmare Realm is a story-driven haunt experience in Mattawan.
The actors are not allowed to touch visitors, but are there to scare them! The attraction declares itself “gore-oriented” and includes strobe lights, fog machines, and loud noises.
Tickets are timed to distribute visitors throughout the night, starting at 7:30 PM.
Ages: Nightmare Realm is not recommended for children under 12. An adult must accompany visitors under 16.
Accessibility: Nightmare Realm is fully ADA-compliant and wheelchair accessible.
