Grabbing a pumpkin at the grocery store or another convenient spot is easy. But for an authentic experience, why not head to a pumpkin farm and search the rows for the perfect pumpkin (or two!) for your front porch?
Picking your prospective jack-o’-lantern is arguably one of the best fall activities in SW Michigan, and we want to make your search easier.

Before heading out to your favorite pumpkin patch, some things to consider:
1 – Bring Cash. Many pumpkin farms are cash only and/or have self-pay boxes. Having small bills on hand is a big help.
2 – Patches are Weather Dependent. Call and/or check Facebook before visiting a pumpkin patch; they often close temporarily due to rain.
3 – Pumpkins are Dirty. Have garbage bags or old towels in the car to transport your future jack-o-lanterns home. Hand wipes for family members are helpful too.

What’s Happening with Gene the Pumpkin Man’s Farm?
Steele and Sadie Evans, Gene’s great-nephew and niece-in-law, are stepping in as the fourth generation to care for this land.
They’re keeping Gene’s pumpkin tradition alive and giving it a fresh start as Evans Acres Family Farm.
Opening October 1, the farm will feature new photo ops, returning seasonal favorites, goats, and pumpkins.
