Summer Camp Creates Lifetime Memories

When thinking about sleepaway camp, I am bombarded with memories of swimming in a lake, making s’mores by campfires, sharing bunk beds with new friends, and making too many friendship bracelets to count. Overnight camp is undoubtedly one of my fondest childhood memories.

And while I may be just a tad too old for sleepaway camp now, my daughter is the perfect age for her own summer camp experience that I’m sure she’ll remember just as fondly.

Activities include swimming, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, indoor & outdoor climbing, sports, horseback riding, and ropes courses.

Located on 365 acres of woodlands, prairie, and pristine lakefront on Sherman Lake, Sherman Lake YMCA Camp offers natural beauty and an array of traditional and non-traditional camp programs.

Sherman Lake YMCA Makes Safety a Priority

Sherman Lake YMCA is committed to providing a safe, fun and enriching camp experience for participants and staff, and this year will be no exception. Engaging with local agencies – the Kalamazoo Health Department, Michigan’s State Licensing Agency, the CDC and the American Camp Association – throughout the past year has allowed them to continually update their policies and procedures as they relate to health and safety.

You can read about their current practices and protocols for the upcoming months. As recommendations and best practices evolve, so will their protocols.

Child must be entering 3rd grade through 10th grade to attend overnight camp. Prize cannot be applied to a current camp registration at Sherman Lake YMCA. The winner must be available to claim their prize at a 2021Sherman Lake YMCA Camp and agrees to a photo release.
