Halloween Houses that Offer Spook, Without the Scare
Before the red and green twinkle lights start for Christmas, many families kick off the festive decorating season with Halloween.
Whether you prefer scary skeletons or cute, inflatable cartoon characters, visiting Halloween displays is one of our favorite Halloween activities.
We’ve rounded up some favorite local spots to find Halloween houses.

Ready to Take a Drive or a Stroll?
Businesses and residents are excited to share their displays with local families and invite photographs.
However, they ask that visitors be respectful of their properties and not touch the displays.
Take a drive (we recommend seeing them at night) and let us know of any spots we’ve missed!
Residential Halloween Houses
We’ve always known local families are creative in Southwest Michigan, and Halloween is no exception.
Here are some of our favorite local houses to see in October.
SAFETY NOTE: Please respect all private residences and admire these displays from the street. Unless noted otherwise, visitors are asked not to walk on the properties.

Holiday House 5777
2025 STATUS:✔️ON DISPLAY
5777 CLOVER MEADOWS AVE, SCOTTS, MI 49088 – MAP IT
Known for its massive inflatable holiday displays at Christmas, HolidayHouse5777 does not disappoint as a Halloween house.
The blow-ups depend heavily on weather conditions (check Facebook for updates before you head out).
Visitor Note: Guests can get out of the car and stroll through 210 Halloween inflatables. Be sure to try their scavenger hunt!

Monday – Thursday: 5:30 PM – 10:00 PM
Friday – Sunday: 5:30 PM – 11:00 PM
Display will be up (weather permitting) October 1 – November 1, 2025.

Bridge Street Skeletons

Portage
Morton Manor

Trust us, the pictures don’t do this one justice.
With false facades and extensive lighting and graveyard, this homeowner goes the extra mile yearly for spookiness.
This elaborate display is extra impressive at night.
Devon Street Gargoyles & Spooky Friends

Mega Skeletons on Edington

Ever shopped at Costco or Home Depot and wonder “who buys those giant skeletons?” Now you have your answer.
These massive, bony friends live on Edington in Portage, just around the corner from Devon.

Marigold Meadows

This home near Portage Central pays homage to some famous bad guys and won the Portage Halloween House decorating contest in 2023.
Visitor Note: This display is walkable- guests are invited to walk the property.
Grizzly Manor on Tamfield Ave

This house on Tamfield is full of (creepy) characters. Be sure to see them lit up at night.
Woodland Graveyard

This house on Woodland Drive is just past the (now under construction) elementary school in Portage and has no shortage of festive décor.
We recommend taking a moment to read all of the creative headstones.
Woodcrest Graveyard

Stay in the Woodland neighborhood and you’ll find this well-stocked graveyard on Woodcrest that stretches two houses.
Hungry Clown Circus on Arborcrest

Find a Hungry Clown Circus at this house on the corner of Arborcrest and Schuring.
We did not stick around long enough to discover what they were hungry for…
Timing Note: We typically see this display set up right before Trick-or-Treating time. As of October 22, it was only partially constructed.

Disney Inflatables on Chickadee

Head to Colony Woods, where you’ll find a towering skeleton plus additional favorite characters.
The blue guys on the left will be familiar to Disney’s Haunted Mansion fans.
Bob White Skeletons

Stay in Colony Woods and head to Bob White for some fun skeletons.
Silvergrass Holiday Lights

This Mattawan house puts on a light display nightly in the Silvergrass neighborhood for Halloween and Christmas. Tune your radio to 100.3 and get ready for the show.

Halloween Houses Worth the Drive
Greenfield Village, Dearborn – Hallowe’en in Greenfield Village
20900 Oakwood Blvd, Dearborn, MI 48124 – MAP IT
More than 50 costumed characters, over 1,000 hand-carved jack-o-lanterns, hot brews, live music, and a new Hallowe’en Express Train make Greenfield Village a favorite Halloween spot on the east side of the mitten. Tickets are required (reserve online).
Terror on Tillson Street
Tillson Street, Romeo, MI 48065 – MAP IT
30+ historical homes put on this annual event that is known throughout Metro Detroit (they even sell t-shirts!). Visitors are welcome to walk the street to see all of the spooky and fun decorations.
Downtown Halloween Displays
Decorating is not just for homeowners.
Take a trip to downtown Kalamazoo or Plainwell this Halloween season and see how creative local business owners can be.
The trip provides a way to visit locally owned businesses AND see some festive decor = Halloween win-win.
SkeleTour
2025 STATUS:❌NOT ON DISPLAY
Downtown Kalamazoo’s SkeleTour is on hiatus for 2025. We look forward to its return in 2026!
We still highly recommend visiting the mall in Downtown Kalamazoo for lots of shopping fun and decorated windows!

2025 Scarecrow/Harvest Stroll
The annual Scarecrow/Harvest Stroll is underway in Downtown Plainwell. This event offers a fun competition for local businesses to decorate their storefronts.
