Experience A Summer of Adventure and Play at Kalamazoo Country Day School Summer Camp

Summer is my favorite season.

As a child, the anticipation of waiting for the faint tune of the ice cream truck to grow louder as it wound through the neighborhood is a long-treasured memory.

As a parent, I still enjoy the “lazy days of summer,” but want to incorporate learning for my children that continues after the school year ends.

Is there a camp that combines the fun of summer, while still reinforcing learning and social emotional connections?

Kalamazoo Country Day School is excited to offer themed summer camps to extend learning beyond the classroom year.

Through these camps, children will continue their academic and character development while participating in a wide variety of fun
activities including soccer, magic, art, fitness, classic summer fun and the Summer Olympics

Kids will leave camp with a reawakened curiosity and desire to learn.

2024 KCDS Weekly Camps

• Soccer with Coach Wright (June 10-14): Come see how we learn through drawing, counting and playing the world’s most perfect game! We use sportsmanship and rules of the game as a basis for academic organized play with Coach Adam Wright and his staff.

Magical Summer Fun (June 17-21) : Magic summer camp will be an unforgettable experience for your child as they learn to read minds and magically vanish objects into thin air!

Classic Summer Fun (June 24-28): How about back to those old neighborhood picnic days? How about sack race, tug-of-war and popsicle days? Let’s make a lemonade stand! We’ll use the money to buy a bunch of pizza and ice cream and have a water fight!

Independence Week (July 1-3): Students will enjoy lots of patriotic games and crafts throughout the week!

Adventures in the Great Outdoors (July 8-12): This theme allows kids to get outside and explore the natural world. They might participate in nature hikes, learn about plants and animals, and have fun getting active in the great outdoors.

Summer Olympics (July 15-19): Students will explore the Summer 2024 Olympics by playing our own Olympic sports like 3-legged race, and balloon relay! They will learn sportsmanship, and working together as a team.

Art & Artists (July 22-26): On this colorful exploration, the children will learn about colors, various artists and create artwork based on different fun techniques!

About Kalamazoo Country Day School

KCDS began in 1979 when local families saw a need for an independent, non-profit school in the Kalamazoo area.

This Pre-K through 8th grade school was built on collaboration with families, staff, alumni and friends to create lifelong learners.

KCDS students are enriched with Spanish four times per week beginning in preschool; additional subjects include music, visual art, technology and physical education.
Every year, the school seeks to admit talented and motivated students and are committed to economic diversity.  Kalamazoo Country Day School is tuition-based and financial aid is available.
