Spend a Purrfect Day at Kzoo Cat Cafe & Rescue
Kzoo Cat Cafe & Rescue
1128 W Michigan Ave, Kalamazoo, MI 49006
(269) 350-4099 (text only)
There’s just something about being around animals that lifts my kid’s spirits. If one of them is having a rough day, we find the first chance to play with furry friends and it works like magic.
If you’re looking for your cat fix or your next cuddly companion, Kzoo Cat Cafe and Rescue is the spot for you. Kalamazoo’s only cat cafe is home to over 30 adoptable rescue cats and kittens.
Visitors can enjoy a drink and snack while cuddling a calico in a relaxed environment. And if you fall in love with one of the cats, your family could have a new feline member.
How to Find Kzoo Cat Cafe & Rescue
Kzoo Cat Cafe and Rescue is located on West Michigan Avenue, near Western Michigan University’s main campus and Lovell Street Park. It’s less than five minutes from downtown Kalamazoo.
GPS sometimes struggles to find the cafe, so it’s suggested to take Lovell from Stadium and turn left on Eldred. The cafe shares a building with Jimmy John’s. Visitors are welcome to park in the parking lot or along the street.
Kzoo Cat Cafe’s New Digs
Kzoo Cat Cafe and Rescue is growing and will be moving into a new, larger space. Their new building is located at 4221 S Westnedge Avenue in Kalamazoo, just north of Kilgore. Grand re-opening date is TBD in 2022!
Your Visit at Kzoo Cat Cafe
Now that you’ve found the place, you can’t just walk in: Kzoo Cat Cafe requires all visitors to book a prepaid appointment online at least 24 hours in advance. You will also need a signed waiver for all visitors, including your kids. If your kids are bringing friends, their parents must complete the waivers.
Your appointment will include a fee of $10 per adult and $5 for anyone under 18 or with a student ID.
Tip: If you become a Cat Cafe regular, be sure to pick up the 9-Lives Punch Card: with this card, your tenth visit is free.
Time to Play with the Cats
Kzoo Cat Cafe and Rescue is Kalamazoo’s only cage-free shelter where visitors of all ages get to play with over 30 adoptable cats and kittens. This style of rescue ensures the cats are socialized and loved while waiting for their new homes.
The cats will be roaming the play area full of cat toys and climbing towers. You’ll be encouraged to play with the cats, give them treats and take pictures. It truly is a cat lover’s paradise.
Grab a Drink and Snack During Your Visit
Now that you’ve gotten checked in and started playing with the cats, help yourself to a tasty treat and drink. Whether you arrived hungry or worked up an appetite loving on the cats, there’s something at the cafe to please everyone’s taste buds.
Your group can choose from coffee, tea, pop, and bottled water. You know it’s a home run when there are good caffeine options for the adults and kid friendly options for those that don’t need any energy help.
All snacks are pre-packaged, and self-serve and tables are in the cafe to enjoy them.
How To Adopt Your New Best Friend
Let’s face it, my kids would adopt every cute and cuddly animal they see if we agreed. So if your kids are similar and fall in love with one of the cats, you could bring home your family’s new furry companion.
You can get to know the available cats at your cafe visit or view them online here. Kzoo Cat Cafe and Rescue has completed over 800 successful adoptions since opening in 2017.
The adoption fees range from $40-$150 and include spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, vaccination, flea treatment, and any other required veterinary care. Kzoo Cat Cafe and Rescue requires adopters to be over 21 and complete an adoption application.
