Greater Kalamazoo Music Locations
The Crescendo Academy of Music offers year-round lessons that are available in increments of 15 to 60 minutes, depending on the age and skill level of the musician. Programs are available for infants/toddlers through adults, including programs for students with special needs and ensembles for all ages.
The Broughton Music & Art Center is a full-service experience for young musicians and families. Offering instrument rental as well as repair services, students can rent and take lessons on a wide range of instruments including string, brass, woodwind, voice, piano, and percussion. Classes in songwriting, music theory and composition are also available.
The Suzuki Academy offers weekly private and group lessons in violin, piano, cello and percussion. Private lessons vary from 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the playing level and age of the student. Students at the Suzuki Academy follow a curriculum developed by Shinichi Suzuki, which focuses on small, success-oriented steps.
Marshall Music Co. offers music lessons in all band and orchestra instruments as well as piano, voice, guitar, and drums. Styles include classical, jazz, pop, and rock. All ages and ability levels are welcome and challenged at Marshall Music Co. Instruments are also available for rental or purchase and repair services are offered.
Kalamazoo Academy of Rock allows musicians ages eight to 18 experience a rock band program. They run three programs each year and offer private lessons in guitar, bass, drums, and keyboard. Each session typically ends with a performance in a real music venue.
The Gilmore Education Program offers several types of learning experiences that develop keyboard skills, musical exploration, and performance opportunities for youth and adults. Programs include Piano Labs for students, Piano Camp at Sherman Lake YMCA, and KeysFest, which features professional pianists and educators and gives students the chance to learn and perform in a master class.
Thompson Tutoring offers music lessons on a variety of instruments including piano, percussion, voice, string instruments, woodwind instruments and brass instruments for beginners and advanced musicians. Instructors provide in-home lessons. Thompson Tutoring instructs all ages and also offers Musical Therapy.
Guitar Center in Portage offers private lessons in guitar, bass, keyboards, and drums. Guitar Center has flexible scheduling and lessons are available for ages six and up in 30 and 60-minute sessions, allowing students to progress at their own pace. Also offered are group lessons, jam sessions, recording lessons, and a Rock Show program which connects students to other musicians at the same skill level to get the full experience.
CGStudio offers private, Skype and group guitar lessons. Private and Skype lessons are scheduled once each week and include exercises that will allow students to play in an accompaniment style (chords etc.) and solo guitar style. Group lessons will teach common accompaniment techniques, note reading, ensemble playing, and basic guitar theory.
Tiny Voice Box in Kalamazoo teaches beginning students through advanced. Voice lessons are completely customized for each person’s vocal instrument, for where they are in their development, and for their vocal goals both now and in the future.
At Keefer Music in Three Rivers, music instruction is available for piano, guitar, clarinet, and drum kit in half-hour sessions. Lessons on recording MIDI and audio tracks are also available.
Build skills and enjoyment with weekly instruction and mentoring support at The Music Center in Battle Creek. Ages six and up can take private lessons in just about any instrument. Lessons are offered in 30, 45 or 60-minute sessions.
Jazz and Creative Institute in Kalamazoo offers music lessons seven days a week to accommodate busy schedules. Students of all ages can choose from lessons in over a dozen instruments or summer programs such as jazz workshops and creative musical theatre experience.
